pushrods are still driven from a camshaft..

the camshaft is what open and closes the valves at the correct time..every 4 stroke engine has camshafts...2 stroke engines does not..

Is that because 2 stroke engines does not have intake and exhaust valves? I think they using 'port' instead of 'valves'? idea.gif

overhead camshafts will open the valves directly from the camshaft ,where older V8 pushrod engines has a cam that is in the centre of the engine block , then pushrods sit onto the camshaft and the rods come up through the head and push on a lever (called a rocker arm) that pushes the valves open..

Brad..

So we call these.. Single or Double "Underhead cams".... [laugh][laugh]
