Zeefauna Neutral Newbie July 18, 2006 Author Share July 18, 2006 The pros of DIY is that you'll have the satisfaction of "doing it yourself", can experiment different products and learn new things. The cons, of course, is the hard work, the time taken to train yourself to get the best results and maybe some frustration especially when you're tired. There are also pros and cons of leaving it to other people or products of PPS. Unless it has been tried, tested and proven to meet your expectations... ↡ Advertisement

Skip Neutral Newbie July 19, 2006 Share July 19, 2006 I think he is referring to the HomeFix DIY in Thomson Plaza. It is located on the ground floor, next to the Chinese restaraunt. Thomson Plaza is a small place, quite easy to locate the store. And btw I noticed some Meguiars products are somewhat cheaper there compared to HomeFix at Marina Square. I remember paying $17+ for NXT car wash when the Marina Sqaure shop was selling it for $19+.

Garlic 1st Gear July 19, 2006 Share July 19, 2006 Great job, the clay did its job well. Can see that yr another Meguiar's fan, its a pity those orange MF towels are not avaliable here.
Zeefauna Neutral Newbie July 19, 2006 Author Share July 19, 2006 Thanks, Bro. I thought i heard someone mentioned last month or so that Hypercoat will be bringing the MF here this month. But, i haven't seen any at the retailers. I'm curious as to what price it would be, as i got it 3-a-pack for $30, and i sold some of my extras to some Bros here at the same price. If it's less than $10 a piece, then i've been conned.... But on second thought, it wouldn't be as the Ultimate Wipe is already selling at $12 here. And this is far better than Ultimate Wipe, cos 3 of my Wipes have been "demoted" for use with the "dirty" areas; engine compartments and such.... Silgt Neutral Newbie July 19, 2006 Share July 19, 2006 Hypercoat ran out of Ultimate Wipes as Meguiar's Inc stopped supplying the market at this moment. There will be a inferior Made in China's towel out in the next few months to replace the current towel. The Supreme Shine (orange towel) is of a so-so quality as with all other Meguiar's stuff recently. They started to look towards China for cheaper source and even their guys in US (I can't name names for obvious reason) are also very critical of their new products, especially the accessories. The higher hierachy are just too busy counting $$$. I got one of their Duo-Fiber Towel and it last me just one single day. The Water Magnet bleed colour, the handles from the wheel brush & wheel spoke brush came off after a couple of use and the Chenille Wash Mitt & Wash Pad shed fiber faster than a Siamese cat...don't believe take a look at those on sale at Carrefour As many old timers know I was a big fan of Meguiar's and got good connection with guys up at Irvine, but when I see them churned out craps like these I pack up and run. Anyone still need the mitts, brushes, towels, M21 (Synthetic Sealant), M81 (Speed Glaze), M85 (Diamond Cut II) and M34 (Final Inspection) etc I'm sure I still got some dumped somewhere in the corner of my store rooms. Sorry for being critical but it was all too dissapointing coming from the one company I once admired
Maddriver 4th Gear July 20, 2006 Share July 20, 2006 I'm a hobbyist bro. But i did a Merc recently for some pocket money though... I must say, this is the most expensive hobby I have ever had. Zeefauna Neutral Newbie July 20, 2006 Author Share July 20, 2006 I guess it's true that they are looking towards China to manufacture their accessories, and i think most giant companies are doing that too. It's most economical to them. I'm not too sure about your comments on the Supreme Shine, as i feel its thicker, wipes better, and cleans better as compared to the Ultimate Wipes. The duo-fiber is a crap, i agree. And they've stopped the product. But, their "real" products are still manufactured in the States. And.... I still want your M80 Speed Glaze, you have not replied my PM.... Maybe, i should come over and visit your "store".... hehe
