Hi, would like to know how frequent the pad need to be washed and also how to wash it correctly to prolong the life ? Tks.

I wash my pads each and everytime after every session. It shortens the life span of the pad, but I know that there is absolutely no chance of product build up in the pad that might cause swirls on the next car.

Meguiar's used to discourage washing as it might cause pad separation issues(from the velcro backing). Instead, they recommended using a specific pad for each product and storing them in open Ziploc bags after usage; cleaning was to be done with a brush while spinning the pad with the machine

 

They have since changed the adhesive and there are no longer any complains from users.

 

Some products produce a lot of dust and the built-up might scratch the paint if the pad is not washed after used.

I washed the pad and squeeze it to dry and later found that the circumference of the velcro has a groove. Was just wondering should i wash it in the future.

Is the cut deep? Don't worry, you can still use the pad.

 

There are many factors which can cause a tear around the velcro,

 

1) Improper technique used to remove pad

2) Improper pad size thus causing machine's backing to cut into pad

3) Squeezing/twisting stiff pads during washing

4) Applying too much force onto machine
