1.6SR is an MPI engine. Have a read at:

http://www.skoda.de/index.php?typ=Combi&mo...zeigen&adaten=1

Under the section "Motor", look for the word "Gemischaufbereitung" (air-fuel mixture preparation). "Elektronische Multipointeinspritzung (Eletronic Multi Point Injection - MPI)" is indicated in this section.

I believe that the German Skoda site has been recently updated. I am pleasantly surprised to see that the Octavia Tour is equipped with the following specifications:

1. Exhaust Regulation System: Dual catalytic convertors with dual Lambda-Sond sensors.

Read Abgasreinigungssystem: Vor- und Hauptkatalysator mit 2-Sonden-Lambda-Regelung

2. Emission standards: EU4

Read Emissionsklasse : EU4

3. The power and torque:

Power "Leistung" - kW (PS) min-1 75 (102) / 5600

Max Torque "Max. Drehmoment" - Nm/min-1 148 / 3800

In comparison with the Octavia II (A5), there is no difference in the engine specifications:

http://www.skoda.de/index.php?typ=Limousin...5%2BkW&adaten=2

PS:

Frankly speaking I have no idea what SR stands for. [;)]

Your ride could be equipped with the newer EU4-compliant engine since it is from MY2006.

How to check ?

Is there any indicators on the engine block itself ? The service manual stickers are all in codes with makes no sense to me except that it says my engine is QG0 type.

the 1.6SR engine found in the bora, toledo and the Octy I is 100bhp and has mpi (multipoint injection)

the 1.6 MPI engine that is found in the A5 is 102 bhp and also has mpi, but is a modified version of the 1.6SR.

so the 1.6SR is MPI but is not the same as the 1.6MPI engine.

huh, so if engine cover says SR, is our engine SPI or MPI then ? dizzy.gif

easiest will be to see if there are 4 injectors physically. May need to remove engine cover though.

The EU4 engine has 2 lambda-sond sensors while the EU2 engine has only one. A mechanic who is familiar with the layout of the 1.6 MPI block and is able to indentify the location and quantity of the lambda-sond sensors should be able tell whether it is an EU2 or EU4 block.
