Was told that the GPS would need external antenna to work if the car got V-Kool installed, true?

Yes you do, V-Kool blocks out a lot of the satellite signals. So you need an external antenna much like the taxis have.

Other less effective solar films don't really need it.

Hi Bro,

Sorry to hijack this thread to ask if you know where to buy a GPS bluetooth receiver and tomtom5 software/map for my friend who has a Nokia 6681 smartphone. U know anyone selling this in Singapore and if so, where & how much?..

as a driver, there is no way you can look at the map and drive at the same time... usually we will go according to what the systems say.... 500meters...turn left...etc

huh?? i dun dare to do that in MY ... 50m turn left an you will wonder which road to turn to [laugh]

tats the problem with PDA phone ... screen too small for me... also try to do a selection on ur PDA using ur finger while ur on the road [sweatdrop]

standalone GPS does stand out on these, big screen for easier viewing on the map and able to do selection easier (but i dun recommend doing it while diving) [sweatdrop]

Bro, mind letting me know which GPS make and model you use? My car got V-Kool so don't want to get the wrong one.

Thanks bro. Which model are you using, 310 or 610? I prefer the 610 but it is too expensive at 1.2K; the 310 is 850 if I recalled correctly. Any lobang for getting the Nuvi cheaper? Cheers!

bluetooth receivers you can check out http://www.eastgear.com/shop/index.php?cPath=71

They may not be the cheapest but the aftersales service is fantastic. [thumbsup]

If looking for really cheap set, can try during IT shows or bid online from ebay. I bidded mine from ebay and shipped it over for about SGD$160 total.

Nokia's running symbian OS.. I'm not too sure what kind of GPS progs there are for that OS.

I've only have experience with Pocket PC (Windows Mobile) devices.

Hi Bro,

My friend just checked with East Gear. But then, they do not have the bluetooth receiver with sotware map meant for Nokia 6681 that is running on Symbian Software. Theirs is on Windows platform. Thanks anyway, for the help.

i have been using them for 4 yrs now, they are either in my car as a HU, PDA or smartphone.

As a HU... looks flashy but chances of thief increases

as a PDA convenient but stylus might be a problem to some

as a smartphone i reckon is the best cos you can bring it wherever you go... but you need to have GPS receiver if your smartphone doesnt support that but they are cheap....

as a driver, there is no way you can look at the map and drive at the same time... usually we will go according to what the systems say.... 500meters...turn left...etc

so at the end of the day, it is still up to you...

hope that helps

Do Nokia N73 come with GPS receiver?
