Lamy Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 (edited) True Guru. Thank you for clarifying. I stand corrected about stock not being able to hit 300bhp. Question, how do you get 340bhp with stock internal? Just more aggressive tunning package as you put it? I always thought that you need to go stage 2 and bigger turbos to get BHPs above 250. Decksurgeon Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 Hi lamy, sorry for the confusion..... you got to have a bigger turbo. the stock k03 runs out of puff pretty quick. K04 is ok for about 270+, for 300+++ numbers your looking at a GT28 or GT30. what i meant to say was the stock internals are pretty robust and can take good trashing (i.e the 340bhp). there are 2 versions of a 1.8T engine. the main factor resides in the fact that the connecting pin of the con-rod/piston is larger (if i recall correctly 19mm compared to 17mm). for the engines with larger pins and corresponding con-rods the mod capability almost endless as the internals are pretty much bombproof. you will find the 1.8T engine with the larger pins in cars like the S3 and TT quattro. there is a 1000+hp RS4 running in europe and they run a stock manual gearbox with RS2 front driveshafts. basically testimony to the overengineering and strength of the OEM factory parts. even the builders were amazed that most of the stock parts could take 3.5+bar of boost. Putter Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 (edited) Level 9 is suppose to go with race fuel with octane level of above 100... that's why the plugs were misfiring. With revo, and Ron98 fuel, max setting should not exceed 7. But that Revo guy set my fuel type at mid level, which is supposed to be able for 95 Oct. Really need to go back to him again. But I think he sold that Revo business to CAG liao. Edited January 8, 2007 by Putter

Putter Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 I read somewhere that for auto tiptronic gear like Superb, even though it is on 1.8T, the power will not able to surpass ~250BHP even with stage 2 upgrade of using larger turbo charger. Is it true? I guess all this power upgrade will need to balance with expensive brake system and suspension upgrade as well.
Tashi Clutched January 9, 2007 Share January 9, 2007 hi bro According to Revo literature, you probably mean Timing "0" and NOT "mid-level", which is Timing "5". Timing "5" is the mid-level setting meant for Ron 98. Ron 95 you need the base Timing "0", which you can set if you get SPS 2 (serial port switch). if you simply ask the CAG guy to reset, you may specify Timing "0". For SPS 1, I think they only got one mode - Performance (cannot set Ron specific settings). just my humble 1 cent. bless tashi
Putter Neutral Newbie January 9, 2007 Share January 9, 2007 o i c. Wah lau...then that Huan who did this should know when he set it. Going to CAG later... Thanks!
Decksurgeon Neutral Newbie January 9, 2007 Share January 9, 2007 Hi Putter, the power limtation in a VAG car depends on the weakest link. in this case not the 1.8T engine. usually the auto gearbox cannot 'tahan' the torque. for the CVT/Multitronic the max torque is approx 300Nm(6plate) 350Nm(7plate). for the DSG ~400Nm. for the superb titronic dependent on gearbox type diff torque limitations - same reasoning applies. if youre putting out 500Nm of torque you probaby wanna opt for a manual quattro drivetrain to handle that kinda power. Echelon 3rd Gear January 12, 2007 Author Share January 12, 2007 Finally decided on the Revo and am on a 5hr trial, the difference is there, the power on tap is there when you need it, there is the g-force push back to the seat if you get aggresive with the throttle(pedal to the metal), when already moving at 60km/h to 100km/h pretty quickly. Got the sports mode version. Also changed my air filters to K&N, OWS Spark Plugs with double iridium firing, OWS Racing Engine oil, oil filters, feels different from stock for sure. - I like. Met another Superb bro there, but he do not frequent here, he has two cars a Superb with MS Design kit and Revo-ed, his second car a Subaru STI pretty awesome ride(he has special leather), when we were talking, he loves the Superb because he says that they do not build cars like the Superb any more, strong metal with a real engine power, he compared it to the new VW Passats with lighter materials and engines. Made me feel even prouder of my Superb. Anyways later going to pamper my car with 98 Ron, recommended fuel for Revo, Huan advise that with 98 Ron, I will really feel the difference. Overall: My expereince at CAG is at a personal level, the quality is of service is two thumbs up, the overall expereince was good, recommended to check out. Putter Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Yes...Huan is a very responsible person. I went CAG yesterday at 6:15pm to lower my boost and timing due to mis-firing fault. Alex keep insist must use 98, which was the case for my friend's Passat chip up with APR. You seems pretty "dark"... You may want to upgrade your brake system as well.
