Thug Clutched March 20, 2007 Share March 20, 2007 One thing pple haf to understand the extractor. Extractor is for exhuast to flow thru. Changing an aftermarket extractor only help the exhuast fumes to flow thru more smoothly. Of coz with the existing cat as ur 2nd resistance, flow could be restricted once again. 4-2-1 improves power gain on whole range of rpm. Best to bring out the potential of 4-2-1 extractor should be changing the whole exhuast system. Ur ride auto or manual?

Thug Clutched March 20, 2007 Share March 20, 2007 I won't ask u to de-cat as its illegal. But if u wan u can always do it. However Lancer set-up should be 2" mid pipe. Muffler any legal one wif cert will do...or operated also can...
Clazio71 Neutral Newbie March 20, 2007 Share March 20, 2007 4-2-1 extractor helps to improve your pickup but it is just part of the entire exhaust system that is why you dun feel the maximum effects from your modifications. Your cat converter is the reason for your RPM unable to go up further... So is your stock exhaust muffler. There are many other factors such as air intake system, diameter of piping, ECU etc.
Thug Clutched March 20, 2007 Share March 20, 2007 Forgot to say something... When changing extractor, best to bore the engine exhuast fume outlet to the size of the manifold inlet. Bore both sides for ultimate smoother flow...

Circuit Clutched March 25, 2007 Share March 25, 2007 hmmm my case a bit diff.. mine auto car focus stock exhaust setup ... with supersprint muffler end. -- no loss in low end, jus mid and hight better, with the sound. but i was thinkin if doing a 4-2-1 extractor, will it improve pickup? hear rumour before, if i change 4-2-1 and aftermarket muffler.. dun de-cat. or low end suffer. so should i go ahead with the 4-2-1 ... and leave the cat untouch? -- to get a better pickup? or decat? .. my ecu is untouch... so no know whats the best next plan any experience exhaustees? Watwheels Supersonic March 25, 2007 Share March 25, 2007 http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...ml#MainPar_0006 See under "Exhaust system". Exhaust manifold aka Extractor. Unless certified by LTA if not it'll be illegal.
Zealot Neutral Newbie March 25, 2007 Share March 25, 2007 I tried the 4-2-1 extractor before on a Altis then had a run against my good friend's lancer. Here is what i experienced... 1. Stock 14" rims , against lancer i win 2. Upgraded to 16" rims , against lancer i lose 3. Change to 4-2-1 extractor , against lancer i win. the change of the extractor allows me to no 3. you say got improvement or not?

Clazio71 Neutral Newbie March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 4-2-1 extractor and modified cat converter will boost your low end power for better pickup but bear in mind that such modifications are not LTA-compliant. ECU tuning will definitely optimize the performance of your vehicle but should only be done after your exhaust system is ready for ECU mapping... ↡ Advertisement
