Oklor76 Neutral Newbie April 23, 2007 Share April 23, 2007 Anyone knows what the advantage and disadvantage on getting big Amp battery for the car ↡ Advertisement
Bobcatsysop Neutral Newbie April 23, 2007 Share April 23, 2007 From what I understand, if you are into SPL and driving like 2000 watts rms power rating, then it is advisable otherwise, if normal user into SQ under this rating, it is not necessary to get bigger battery. Spinworkx Clutched April 23, 2007 Share April 23, 2007 Depends on what your stock battery size is. I know of cars having 55amp stock, and some having only 35amp stock... 55amp is ok for normal listening, but 35amp is too small. Batteries eventually will have to be changed, so when time to change might as well change to a bigger one...no harm having more power even if you don't need it... Hehe, 2000W RMS? Few ppl have that kind of power requirement...i'm close though...over 1500RMS now :) running at 65Amp battery...but i need it not because of ICE but because of the sheer number of lights i have in my car...over 20 different lights all over the car, so a bigger battery is necessary for me hehe.. Bobcatsysop Neutral Newbie April 23, 2007 Share April 23, 2007 Hi Bro, Your current battery is 65amps coz you need that for your extra neon lightings and your 1500w RMS power. My current battery is 45AH or NS65... which is also stock battery replacement size and my SQ power rating is 900w (just under 1000w rms) and is works fine even my battery today is more than 3 years old now still providing me with 13.8v constant running voltage. Recent check on battery water level is still max no need to top up and mine has 2 Ez-Stab installed.
Ls430 Clutched April 23, 2007 Share April 23, 2007 the bigger the amh the better it means it takes a longer time to drain the battery when you are playing hard on the audio while the aircond is on

Twnll 1st Gear April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 I believe the alternator plays a part too...
Kklee 6th Gear April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 IMHO, it will be good to size the battery according to the alternator. Don't think it's useful to have a high AH rated battery when the alternator cannot correctly charge it... though it may still work. Should look into those like Varta AGM batteries. Think I came across it in one of the local automotive magazines.

Core Neutral Newbie May 4, 2007 Share May 4, 2007 anyone knows whether a bigger battery will increase the fuel consumption? also, any difference between normal and maintenance-free battery when it comes to ICE? thanks!
Bobcatsysop Neutral Newbie May 5, 2007 Share May 5, 2007 (edited) Hi Bro, Try to answer to my best knowledge hor.. << anyone knows whether a bigger battery will increase the fuel consumption? >> Nope.. coz the weight and size difference is so neligible that it does not contribuite to increase fuel consumption <> The difference is having to check your acid (water) level physically by opening up the 6 caps for a normal battery to see to top up versus maintenance-free that 'says' no need to maintain but I still check it once in every 6 months to make sure.. So the answer is hardly any difference except for the price. Don't blast me if the bros here disagree with what I just said hor.
