Yep. Local mags have not enough clout. Say sth stupid about a car from one of the premium brands and they probably will never get a test drive from the marque again.

Have not tried R1R.

Oh and why are there so many conflicting reviews about the T1R. Guess I will have to be more discerning when it comes to listening to advice.

Some bros have used R1R for tracking. Pretty good in that aspect.

I seem to notice a few who are DEAD Against T1R, seldom mild responses. I'll leave it at that for you to think through. I sometimes suspect if they're using the same T1Rs even [:|]

Yeah I noticed some pretty extreme responses too.

Still wondering how bad can a Made in Japan, V-tread, silica based flagship sports tyre be. According to a friend who just switched to T1R, they provide better dry traction than Thai Goodyear F1 GSD3, which I am currently on.

Take with a pinch of salt. Go out of this forum, goto other forums, especially those for specific models. You'll see an absence of such extreme prejudice in most cases.

think someone has posted this link before... anyway, read on

http://planetsoarer.com/06tyre/index.htm

in another test, T-1R actually ranked below michelin pilot preceda is more of a luxury-sports tire... http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/printthre...p?t=23777&pp=40

in case you are wondering, i'm not bashing T-1R. it's a fairly good tire but my view is there are better tires out there of a lower price. think most of its publicity came from F&F:tokyo drift which is rather ironic since most of us don't drift. unless you are into drifting, i doubt anyone of us would enjoy 'drifting' while going round bend at high speed

Subjectivity applies to us end-users as well.

No one is wrong here when they gave their own comments about the performance of T1R. When I 1st fitted them, what a mistake I made in listening to my wkshop. [thumbsdown] Felt I wasted money for them...earlier batches were ex and I paid $150/pc for 195/55/15 (yes, they were that ex when new and before F&F promoted them). They squeal like pigs, mushy to steering inputs but quiet as hell. No choice, money spent so stuck to them and enjoy the peace. [:(]

After about 2 months, the pigs started to disappear.[:p] I compensated the mushy feel with higher pressure and these T1R really LOVE high pressure.[inlove] The higher I feed, the better they respond. [hur] Initially at 34psi cold but now at 39psi for the last 20% of its lifespan. [sweatdrop] Dry grip is at its best ever, pigs are totally gone no matter how I try to bring them back. Wet drainage amongst the best out there (34psi or higher) but easy to trigger ABS.

My conclusion to fully exploit T1R:

1) Feed them high pressure (35-40psi cold) [shocked]

2) Be patient as they get better after 1-2months (kinda of slow wearing) [cool]

3) They really perform even at the end (I'm down to 2mm) [sly]

4) Make sure your camber/toe settings are properly aligned (very important when wet and fully max contact patch with road at the limit) [thumbsup]

My 2nd set is in and waiting to be fitted, got them in to beat 2% increase. Have used more than 10 different models of tyres but T1R is the only one I'm repeating again. Its just what I want in a tyre.

(Not indicative of the ability of T1R but just my experience) [;)]

My source is not the cheapest cos he is not a tyre shop. Check with those tyre shops like Yap Brothers and Leong Seng.
