Scratched Bonnet

Hi,

 

my car bonnet was badly scratched. I had sent the bonnet for re-spray. But lately, i noticed that the bonnet paintwork looks wavy.

 

I was wondering if it is still possible for the bonnet to be re-sprayed until it looks perfect again, or is it once it is puttied, it can never look perfect anymore.

 

I am thinking of whether to respray (at $180) or to order a new bonnet and spray (Total $600).

 

Appreciate your advice.

No le...if the workshop did a good job, the scratches shouldn't be seen as waves. The wavy pattern more likely due to lousy paint job (dun scold me if u r good pals with ur paintshop guy).

 

Definitely go get a good paint workshop to repaint lah.

 

Then apply PPS..wah then will look shiny shiny!

nope, i m not a good pals with the paintshop guy :)

 

one month after the spray, i see the scratches again as the putty sunken i suppose.. and i also see little bubbles..

 

troubled.

hmm, basically when i look at the bonnet at an angle, there are many mild 'dents' in and out..

If under certain lighting and angles, the paintwork is smooth but there are waves you can see then it could be holograms~

 

If its dents and dings, to me its a case of very poor workmanship

 

I would respray it again at another painter's and avoid the original shop in future

 

Alternatively, feedback to original painter and point out the problems and see what they have to say (aka bang table)

Hi guys how about paint work with bubble or bloaded? Small circle about size of ten cents. It come back again after mroe then a year after I respray.

it came in less than a week!

 

anyway, i went to CAS today to ask for a quotation.

 

I was quoted $240.

 

As told by the assessor, the paint wasnt thoroughly dry.

 

Most likely, i will be getting my bonnet resprayed by CAS.

 

I have seen one of the cars sprayed by them and it looks alright to me.

 

Anyone has any encounters with CAS to share?

My Car door also scratched 2 days ago. Is it possible just to repaint the door? Will the colour match with the rest of the car or will it look awful if only repaint door? Btw around how much if repaint 1 door?

If your car is the common colour most of the spray paint company should be able to do it.

$240 very ex.

I respray my whole bumper last time at $100 only. And its computer color coded mixing machine. So the color is exactly the same as original. Looks like brand new. No body know its resprayed before.

Hey, a friend of mine rushed the paintshop to finish by the day itself.

That day is a rainy day. End up paintjob sucks and respray is needed.

 

I think it good to allow the paintshop to have enough time to do good job.

And do note: rainy days are not suitable to do respray.

 

On the other hand, how wavy is ur bonnet now?

Under sun light can see?

Or during night time under street lights?

 

If its ok then save the $$ lo.

If u haven't respray the body b4, some how it will look different.
