Dipstick Neutral Newbie May 19, 2007 Share May 19, 2007 (edited) Is the plug-in ionizer effective in refreshing the air in the car? The ionizer I am talking about is the type you simply plug into the cig. lighter socket, no wires or filter and looks like cig. lighter. Saw it at Homefix selling for $21, made in Taiwan. Can anyone using it ( or similar) give some feedback? Tks. Edited May 19, 2007 by Dipstick ↡ Advertisement

Picanto 3rd Gear May 19, 2007 Share May 19, 2007 i am using one. cannot really tell the difference. but its sure better than perfume, which tend to cover odours rather than eliminating it.
Dipstick Neutral Newbie May 19, 2007 Author Share May 19, 2007 That's precisely why I am looking into the ionizer as there are claims that the negative ions can do wonders. The adverse effect of using an ionizer is that most also produce some ozone. Ozone in concentration of less than 0.1 ppm is the acceptable limit, it seems. Chucky2007 Turbocharged May 20, 2007 Share May 20, 2007 i dunno about the "health effects" for the ionisers. i have 3 in my car. sometimes i wonder if they help my health, or damage my health. Anyway.. they are useful in removing ordours. smelly salted fish feet during rainy days, durian smell, ciggy smell. u wouldnt notice immediately but it does help. if the smell is too strong, having the ioniser on during yr 1 hour driving trip won't remove them. what i did was to simply swtch my ionisers on when i park my cars (of course switch off engine, radio, and lock car). then leave it for a few hours or overnight. Next day no smell or wahtever. i smoke in my car(of course not with aircon on) but all my passengers say that there are no smell of tobacco smell or whatever.
