Hi All,

In reply to the post Goods vehicles - too many and getting out of hand ?

There is people wondering if goods vehicle travelling on center lane is agianst the law or not.

So due to my curiousity, i mailed LTA for better info.

Even i myself do drive my company lorry at times as well, so i though might be good to share with those who did also.

Dear Mr Wong,

If he is talking about goods vehicles that has 60km/hr limit, that only applies to Heavy Goods Vehicles eg Tip trucks, Heavy trucks, Container trucks. Other goods vehicles with the 70km/hr limit are not under that category.

Actually on paper, it is stated as such.

But many times we have also seen how some of them can tailgate vehicles in the centre lane, pushing them to go faster when they are already at around 80km/h.

I've even seen some going as fast as 98km/h in the centre lane when the left lane is not very busy. Saw one lorry yesterday traveling on the rightmost lane along PIE, overtaking vehicles in the centre lane! [sweatdrop]

For such case, they are speeding. Instead being restricted to travel on center lane like Trucks.

But then, in China, even trucks travel at 90 - 100km/h on the expressway waving in and out. thumbsdown.gif

Hopefully Singapore won't be like that couple of years later.
