Redune Neutral Newbie August 6, 2007 Share August 6, 2007 is vacumn, oil temp, water tamp guages useful? to my understanding, could notice faults using the vacumn guage. intend to install that for cosmetic purpose too =) what brands are there and pricing wise? ↡ Advertisement
Yuan 6th Gear August 7, 2007 Share August 7, 2007 Depends on what your budget is and how deep is your pocket. Vacuum can one way or the other indicates the health of the engine. There are some articles in this forum that talk solely on vacuum gauge. There are a few brands, Defi (expensive), evil, prosport, autometer, autogauge. For cosmetic purpose, you can get cheaper ones. For serious purpose, you may want to consider investing a bit more $$$$$ on the gauges. My voltmeter help me prevent my engine stalled and I went on to change my battery. Sickscientist Clutched August 7, 2007 Share August 7, 2007 For cosmetics, get cheap ones like prosport... If really one to notice faults, get the Scangauge...
Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 7, 2007 Share August 7, 2007 depends on what you want (assuming they're not cosmetic). If you run ice, amp and volt meters would be good, if you drive like siao, oil temp and pressure are what you need. The factory water temp gauge isn't very accurate, but if you know where its sits normally you don't really need a water temp gauge. Vacuum is better for reading carby cars but if you know how to read it then it will work (good for FC control too). Most AFR gauges are a waste of money.
