Model Change VS Facelift

Was just wondering...

What's the difference between a "model change" and a "facelift"?

Like Mazda 3 change to Mazda 3 sp is which one? Because only the outlook change, and the engine never change. So can I assume that its a facelift only?

Many other examples too...

Corolla LX change to XLi

Toyota Vios E to Toyota Vios J

Can some one enlighten?

U got it right loh.

One example of model change is Civic. Longer wheelbase, stiffer chassis, bigger engines.

Most Japanese makes like to do facelifts. [:/]

Change a bit on the bumpers lah, on the grill lah, on the lights lah.... but 换汤不换药. [:|]

Thanks for clearing that up bro.

Can ask, like the new Lancer EX, its considered 2008 Lancer or 2007 Lancer?

I realised that alot of sources list differently for the year.

Come call it 2007 Lancer. Some call it 2008 Lancer.

Any enlightment?

Neutral Newbie

It's depends on which "year" you are talking about... many like to call 07 or 08 model... but fail to indicate the prefix...

Typically two types you will have YOM07 means manufactured or made in 07, MY07 would mean model for 07...

So assuming you book and collect a 08 model car at the end of the year, it would be MY08 / YOM07, which I think applies to the Lancer EX
