Carbon82 Moderator April 19 Share April 19 Dealing with uncertainty in the future of automotive development, many manufacturers are stretching their R&D dollars by turning to 2nd or 3rd facelift for their decade old models, or launching "new" models which is basically an old model with a set of new cloth. Will you consider getting such old wine or a brand new model? Some example for a better illustrations. Benarsenal Turbocharged April 19 Share April 19 Cars are like tech products now. Constantly updated and revised to keep it up to date, but the basic hardware architecture remains mostly unchanged. Look at Tesla. All their cars never get full replacement, only updates once in a while.

Mkl22 Supersonic April 19 Share April 19 I find all the latest ICE engines like shit and not reliable. So many rubbish valves and gizmos to meet emissions and yet need to give good power. All will break much faster and cost a bomb to fix. EV or hybrid with a simple power generating engine from Toyota will probably be something I will look for. 2

Those already downgraded to 4 cylinders. Any more developments means becoming half a I6. And alternative to timing belt is chain. Each has its pro and con. I am sticking to the 5-potter. If not the chain, then the sprockets and chain guides.

Revs better but less torque at lower rev. ↡ Advertisement
