the MX-5 seems to have hit onto a concrete wall and get into flame

That seem to be the case. reminded me of the skoda taxi accident [sweatdrop]

yah...that skoda cab that hit directly into concrete wall but never caught fire

may be because it is running diesel...less likely to catch fire compare to petrol

[thumbsup]

Well.. I find it rather ironical that the MX-5 was burnt up...
care to share what is it ironical about ?

During the 7th month hungry ghost festival, worshippers burn paper cars for the deceased.

It is thus ironical, that in this instance, a car is also burnt for the 2 freshly deceased, not a paper car, but a real car.

It is nonsense that the accient happened becaue it is the 7th month.

I do not know the cause of the accident, but this accident is obviously caused by the driver, not the 7th month roaming ghosts (if any).

The damage to the vehicle is also a clear indication that the 50km/h speed limit had been exceeded.

Sixth Avenue at 50kmph? Most drivers zoom zoom oredi more than 50kmph.....maybe this particular accident, the driver was travelling at an excessive speed, lost control, plus the fact that this MX-5 is a cabriolet, thus safety is not always there.

Newspaper reports claim that the driver was speeding up the steep incline and lost control of the vehicle on the decent downhill.

Speed under the hands of an inexperienced young driver, possible drunk, plus the deadly combination of a 2 seater convertible sports coupe = Ultimate Disaster! [shakehead]

i think you got that wrong. if i am not mistaken, only when people passed away where paper cars are burnt. 7th month burn more paper money.. dont think we burn house, cars during 7th month.

back to topic, when a car crash with such impact, i would say its highly possible that it will caught fire. that's why my question to DL in the first place. [;)]

I think MX5 is a car prone to crashes?

The performance is mediocre (relative to other car of the same category) ... i think it's designed for women to cruise at 50kmph along a costal beach

I know it can be difficult to control one's speed at 50km/h at Sixth Avenue, but I still religiously stick to the speed limit.

Actually this 50km/h speed limit can cause a backlog of vehicles, esp when the vehicle right in front is travelling at 50km/h (that me [;)] ).

I get a convoy of impatient drivers behind me, flashing their head lights and sounding their horn at me, and right in front of me, the rd is clear, but because the law says the speed limit is 50km/h, I have to obey it, or risk being fined by Traffic Police and slapped with demerit points.

I believe there is a reason for the 50km/h speed limit along Sixth Ave - Safety!

hope it's not another drink-driving case. may them rest in peace.

the rim looks like MX5's rim...

i got a huge shock when i realised who these 2 guys...

a month ago, while i was driving along dunearn on my way home, from my rear mirror, i saw this open top gray MX5 zooming in very very fast and cut from the extreme outer lane to the inner without signalling whatsoever. It was a very irresponsible act and that sent a few drivers jamming on their brakes.

the driver was a young chinese fellow and the passenger, a young blonde hair caucasian.

at that moment, I was telling my wife this driver is crazy and he might get into trouble sooner or later...

when i saw the news today, i was shocked. i am pretty sure the victims were the same one i saw last month...

not to be rude to the deceased' families but the driver drive really recklessly along sixth avenue and dunearn road not once but a couple of times.

nonetheless, may their souls rest in peace.

How fast were they travelling? 100kmph?
