HU or add AMP

Hi pros,

 

I have a budget of 500 - 600 $ and thinking of adding to my rainbow components speakers. My current HU frm BM comes with ipod connection via some ipod cable so my HU basically can select the songs i want. I checked the user guide and it says output is 40w.

 

I am looking at some alpine's with similar capabilities and I believe there are HU's in the market currently. My concern is, since my ipod's output is also limited, would changing the HU or adding an AMP be a better choice?

 

Currently no SP done, no intention of adding a subwoofer and looking for a warranty set HU or amp. Can anybody give any suggestions?

depend on wat model, i suppose is a mid bass speakers? on the front doors?

 

u can consider adding Class D/mono amp if u want to deliver more then 40W to each speaker. but must find out if they r running on 2 Ohms or 4 Ohms.

 

since no subwoofer, probably dun need a crossoveror 4 channel amp. 2 channel will suffice. as the tweeter will hv it's own filtering.

the speakers are CSX 265 from rainbow on the front doors.

 

a Class D mono amp? Erm.. any particular brand?

recently driving a airwave w/ stock speaker, HU JVC double din cd player

w/ budget of $500...

any recommemded comp. speaker + amp....but only listen to radio

Your cheapst alternative is to just add an amp and change the speakers.

You dun need a new HU if you can live with your stock one :)

 

As for amps, al you need is a 2ch amp to power the front speakers.

Depending on your HU, if it doesn't have any outputs, you'll need to get an amp that can accept speaker inputs...like the Alpine...so you dun need processors or hi-lo converters etc....so far i nonly know of Alpine amps that can accept direct speaker inputs as well as RCA inputs

so most likely is 2 Ch 4Ohms and ard 300W

 

I would say is spend, bargain with the ICE shop lor. the Amp + wiring + labor (tuning) will not set u back by tat much.

 

a higher end wud b Rockford Fosgate P325.2 which deliver 80W x 4Ohms, and has an external potentiameter so u can adjust the Bias at will.

but bear in mind tat is a mid bass. so if u r discerning type, best u look for a 4Ch amp which you can later add on a 10"/ 12" woofer if the sound image/ quality dun make the cut.

just a 2 way component + tweeter on front, powered directly fr HU will do the job. reset speakers by fading off the rear speaker.

There's this reputable shop that is recommeding a steelmate amp+woofer underneath driver seat also around 300+.

 

So I just go for a dedicated amp instead of a 2-in-1 kind?

it's really up to you, but do bare in mind, it's still mid bass. so if u r looking for the omph factor like a KTV/ Discotechque, it wud b hollow.

 

in short not full spectrum of music coming thru. but u r right, u can add on at a later stage if u decides for a woofer.

 

amps under seat is no issue, just make sure the feller knows how to install without drilling holes into the floor pan to secure it in place. next is of cos method to power on and power off the amp.
