Also, sorry to sidetrack on this thread a little. Not enough post to start a new thread. I have just collected my Impreza 1.6TS a week ago. Its a Manual transmission.

 

I realise that there's always this LOUD engagging sound whenever I shift to reverse gear. Can any TS (M) owner advise if this is normal? If it is, why is this so? It don't happen in my last car.

 

Check with my SE, who told me this is normal for current WRX & TS, but new 1.5R don't have this problem.

 

The sound can be pretty loud (with some vibration at times). Just have to put up with it if normal. But if not, have to highlight during 1st servicing next week.

maybe u didnt clutch in properly? or is ur clutch too high?

try release den clutch in again.

Don't worry, this is a known issue. I think the solution is to shift to first gear then go to reverse gear. It has something to do with some gear synchronization stuffs.
