Perrier 1st Gear October 29, 2007 Share October 29, 2007 To all, Should the OMV of the car be similar to the price listed on the make's official website? E.g. If the listed price is 168000 Yen at the Toyota Japan website, should the OMV be $21266 at exchange rate of 0.129 I am asking because the OMV quoted from the PI on the same car model is a lower $16000-18000. Did the PI in this case under-declare the OMV? If not, is it possible that the exporter in Japan bought the car with discount from Toyota. I am asking because I would like to understand how the system works and I can't find any information apart from asking the PI directly (which I doubt they will tell me). Thanks for any valuable inputs. ↡ Advertisement
Julian Clutched October 29, 2007 Share October 29, 2007 But Toyota in Japan also need to make a profit. They can't be selling at cost.

Perrier 1st Gear October 29, 2007 Author Share October 29, 2007 The listed price on their website is the selling price in Japan. So I am very puzzled how come the imported OMV can differ so much. As far as I know, some car dealers in Japan will buy from Toyota and then resell as new to our local PI. Factoring in the middlemen fee, I am confused how the OMV can have a difference of $4000-6000. **This thread is not meant to bash any PI, just post for the sake of knowledge.**
Perrier 1st Gear October 29, 2007 Author Share October 29, 2007 Wow. In this case, I better ask the PI properly before I buy anything from them.
