Subaru Forester Detail

Did this forester last weekend, when it came, it seems to have a layer of "haze" on its paintwork. After the usual inspection, i proceeded to do the normal wash and clay. However, this were not as "smooth" as i expected. The paintwork was very grabby, in the sense that the claybar seems to get stuck everywhere, even with the increase in shampoo concentration, it did not help much. In the end, i decided not to waste too much time here and move the car away from the washing bay to my usual detailing spot which is much brighter.

Once i shined the halogen on the car, i got a shock. The watermarks i saw initially on the bonnet and roof had not been washed off at all. (Just to clarify, this is not the usual watermarks that had been etched into the paintwork, rather, they are the marks left behind by the rain water mixed with a layer of dust. Or so i though [hur] )

For this prob, i decided to try lake country's purple wool foam pad with IP using rotary and the results turned out well. Infact, it looks almost LSP ready except for some very light marrings here n there.

This step was followed up with using the DA and orange LC pad with PO106FF and the restoration was done. This car however, required up to 3 wool pads and 3 orange pads to restore, quite a bit of washing to be done [laugh]

after the exterior was taken care of, i turned my attention to the beigh interior.[sweatdrop]

The leather seat required cleaning aplenty, so were the interior vinyls, esp the door step areas and the interior carpet. I used CG's leather cleaners for the seats and Meguiar's all purpose cleaner diluted 1:10 (1:5 on the more stubborn stains) for the vinyls and CG's fabric cleaner on the carpet. Took about 2hrs including conditioning with CG's interior protectant.

The pics will speak for themselves:

Hi Ivan,

it took 2 hrs cos we need to "shampoo" the dirty areas, let it dry properly after cleaning and then condition all whole interior. This is a pretty large car and we only left out the roof area untouched. If we dun let it dry well, the owner might find mushrooms sprouting from the carpets [:p][laugh]

Halo Carlovz,

Ya, the owner specifically wanted more attention to the interior and i a glad some improvements was made. All in, the whole car took about 7hrs. This was done with a partner. Without him, i will need about 9-10hrs. [sweatdrop]

Thanks for your compliments. I wouldn't say its neglected, just that beige interior is, imo, one of the hardest area to maintain. Cos it stains easily and is highly visible. [sweatdrop]
