Chisiang 2nd Gear November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 Waxing is adding layers of wax onto the car body, while polish (also mean people from Poland ha ha) is about the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface by using rubbing or a chemical action

Bentwy Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 (edited) hmmm. let me try. polish is like shampoo - does most of the cleaning. wax is like conditioner - provides shine and protection. very advisable to use in this order too. Slowmo Clutched November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 actually polish is like a facial scrub , you don't use that to your face everyday. wax is like sunscreen or moisturiser, you apply to your face to protect it. in female cosmetic terms: polish - makeup remover wax - foundation powder/liquid
Vicz Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 what is the difference between wax and polish? In the process of polishing, it actually takes away a certain very thin layer (in micrometer) of the paint so that (i would say) the next layer of the paint is revealed. This is the take away the dirt, grimes and stuff got stuck on the upper layer thereby revealing a new and shine layer of the paint. Waxing is done immediately after the polish so that the layer of the applied wax "protects" the "new" upper layer of the paint. Wax cannot tahan very high temperature and it may disintegrate under certain circumstances. Also, it will be washed away after some 20 washes or so... therefore, people would go for PPS (Paint Protection System) by means of (usually) Teflon or whatever similar chemical which will not be washed off easily and disintegrate easily. ↡ Advertisement
