My car is still happy with Shell Helix for last 12 years. Now it's on Shell Helix Ultra 5w/40. It's good enough to last for 10k OCI. As of today, my engine is still looks clean & there is no sign of consuming oil. :D

This oil is good enough for passenger cars. I look forward to this oil when I do my 10k servicing at C n C. [thumbsup]

Just to share.. one of my friend's volvo s60 2.0t was down due to sludge problem. He was using castrol edge but the actual culprit was PCV system clogged. The oil was contaminated by gas trapped inside the engine.

Btw, PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) is a system using a PCV valve to evacuate gases from an internal combustion engine's crankcase.

I am really curious, do current car still consume engine oil? For my previous car, which I have it for 7 years, I never top up engine oil at all.

Just sharing with you guys here....

Oil that uses low SPAS(Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus, Sulphur) will reduce the chances of fouling your EGR which could clog your PCV. Low SAPS oil are those with ACEA C classification. Apparently, these low SAPS oil uses grp 3 oil. As far as i know, low SAPS oil do not use PAO and Ester formulated oil.

It help you achieve better fuel consumption and reduce your emission as well as neutral to your Cat converter.

So i prefer to get oil with ACEA C specs. [thumbsup]

your engine needs time to adjust to the new oil. u shouldnt drain so fast should have given at least 1.5-2k.
