Depending on what you want to brew, as low as $30/23L to $60/23L.

Channelnewsasia, today's edition has an article about homebrewing.

Even PA is running a beer brewing course! I'd rather save the course fee and buy a starter kit, nothing difficult about brewing beer.

haha...must be good beer to finish so fast.

Take your time, try out many kits before u jump into all grain.

Although I do AG, once in a while I do a quickie kit when I am short of time.

Cheers!

I am not sure what Raymond offers, but I think as long as the value is same, I recommend that you start with an Ale instead of a Lager. Lager requires very low temp during fermentation, the styrofoam box will not be very effective.

There are several ales available, so taste them at Raymond's first, like it, brew it!!!

Taste is one thing....... but any idea of the potency of the home brews? Will it knock one of the chair after just 2 beers?

For that matter, is the alcohol level controllable and without affecting the taste of the brew?

Thanks

It is safe to say that on average, home-brews are about 4.5% to 5.5% ALC.

However, there are so-called "big beers" that can kick up to 10%-12% ALC! However, most high ALC beers then to go on the sweet side with a "cidery" or apple taste which is not good.

Yeast, the organism that ferments the malt will die once the beer reaches certain alcohol content. Most beer brewing yeast cannot tolerate beyond 9% or 10%. Big Beers are brewed with a strong strain of yeast, specially cultured to withstand up to 15% or more.

Unless you are brewing rice wine, you may use "Chew Piah" from local Chinese medical shops, that'll get you slightly above 9% (but please don't use on beer hor....taste horrible).

So its safe, nobody's going to get knocked off the chair or get drunk faster on homebrewed beer, it depends on individuals.

Cheers.
