Wonder then what's the purpose of putting N there if can't even put to N at traffic lights?

9k for a new gearbox is quite ex... i think BMW is about 10k... are you sure the price is correct?

Lol, usually when gearbox spoilt or gear got problem, people will use an excuse to change car.

But what I know if Gearbox problem if you sell to used car dealer they will deduct the Gearbox money out..

Can try overhaul, no need to change a New Gearbox.. Overhaul pricing will be cheaper....

Putting N there is to use it on waiting time longer. Traffic Light are shorter timing.. But prefer to put D during traffic light.

Sorry - I cannot agree, my 2004 hyundai matrix was in a worse condition when I sold off in 2007 at 63000 km vs my toyota wish now of 6 years old at 150,000 km.

 

The old matrix gearbox lag between 2 to 3 gear and jerk forward during gear change. ATF change also no use. Scrap at huge loss at 3rd year.

 

You lucky can last till 7 years.

 

 

my wife matrix having problem since 6-7 yrs (cant really remember).. having the same problem as you + car could sometimes stall at traffic juntion... but we hack care and driven till now (SFC plate, 9th yar)... just keep our finger cross that it could last till the 10th yr... Taking such risk because she only use the car to travel from Yishun>Woodland... very short distance drive.

 

If you really want to avoid transmission problem, get manual gear.... my father's previous sunny driven for 20 yrs and never change the factory filled gear oil..... . When he see me change my vios manual transmission oil, he was so puzzle and ask me... manual gear box got oil 1 meh??

Someone mentioned a lot of matrix running around - yes .....but who really know the problems....gearbox lag at 3rd year. I cannot accept.

unless got money to change car, otherwise, cannot accept also muct accept...

 

I called a few dealer to check how much I could fetch if the car is sold... some offer scrap value... some even 7% below scrap value (claim that they have to charge GST & blaa blaa...) ) dollar for the body, excuse given was, scrap value too high nobody will buy. So we LL keep the car and keep our finger cross loh...
