Puck style clutch users?

Any users of puck style clutch here?

I just changed to a 4puck sprung clutch, and still getting used to it.

Noticed that when moving off, there's a judder everytime which i think it's coming from the engine.

1. Is it because of the sudden engagement of the clutch that the engine mounts are absorbing the vibration? That would mean a shorter life for my mounts right? (the mounts are hardened already)

2. There's this burning smell too everytime i try to make the moving off smoother, or trying to park the car. Is this part of the running in of the clutch? or am i really burning the pads away...

3. How long will the pads last? and is there anyway to convert the pads to be changeable? coz mine currently have to change the whole disc.

ur fly wheel... is worn one side, uneven wear... same as mine... also jutter.... after awhile like 1-2 weeks, it should go away or minimise the jutter effect.

did u see ur cond of the old clutch plate n clutch cover??? mine was worn one side tapered wear....

stiffen susp, stiffen engine mount will more likely to cause the CV joint wear faster due to the hard shock...

u using this type of clutch, not advisable to keep doing half-clutch for low control...

this type of clutch would more suited to be "thrown" instead of doing half-clutch..

u can burnt the pads if u keep doing half control...

Uneven wear? or could also be the clutch cover warped/not tighten correctly? (supposed to tignten opp bolt alternately?)

mech says my old cutch still can be used actually.. doesn't look unevenly worn or warped.

last time with the full face clutch was fine, no juddering at all.. [hur]

Hopefully will go away though, quite irritating n noisy..

[nod]

Trying not to half clutch and let the pedal go asap when moving off..

not expecting the pads to last very long coz i see like quite thin [:/]

i think the material is like ceramic kind?

something like this... not the one i'm using though bt similar

4 puck or 4 pads. usually comes in 3,4 or 6

The lesser number of pads, the higher the pressure on the cover = more grip but also more harsh and not v.drivable.smile.gif

dun think the tightening procedures will affect tat much.

more like uneven wear...

the old clutch plate would have already seat-in to the wear....so wont jutter...

tat is why some ppl will re-surface the flywheel when they install a new clutch...
