Shinshino Neutral Newbie April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 Hi, Going to get a car this weekend. Tied between Sunny and Sirion. I have read that Sirion population is small and spare parts and servicing will come from limited sources. Cost of maintanence or spare part would be higher when compare with Sunny. Is it true? Generally how much more expensive. OMV value is slightly higher by about 1k. Are there other saving in tax or insurance if I get Sirion? Or any other benefits? Thanks in advance. Sidetrack: Does Sirion really have the same engine as Myvi? ↡ Advertisement
Tsjade Neutral Newbie April 28, 2008 Share April 28, 2008 sirion is a good car compared to sunny in terms of fuel consumption. parts are available from sts. daihatsu is a sibling of toyota, hence the reliability. i believe sirion, myvi, boon, passo use the same engine. Cactus Clutched April 28, 2008 Share April 28, 2008 sunny is 1.6 , sirion is 1.3 or 1.5, so road tax for sirion will be cheaper. FC wise, sunny is a big drinker. Sirion have 4 airbags. Both quite comfortable ride-wise but sunny better in refinement and high speed stability cos its heavy. Best is to go down and test drive both. Tedyruby Neutral Newbie April 30, 2008 Share April 30, 2008 (+) 1) Gives good FC (From point A to B) 2) Roomy interior 3) Every single parts are manufactured & assembled in Japan (Pioneer batch) 4) Big boot space compared to most korean made hatchback 5) Shares most of the parts from Toyota (Since Toyota is tapping on Daihatsu technology for small cars 6) No worries for spare parts when run into accident 7) 4 airbags (2 from the sides) (-) 1) Showrooms remain unchanged for decades. 2) Poor customer service. Can vomit blood when encounter technical fault or problems during warranty period esp. at Kallang Branch. Unreasonable answers and reply. 3) Technicans mostly uncles (between 45 to 50) have this kind of "Couldn't be bothered attitude" 4) Servicing parts selling at cut throat prices (Including accessories) 5) Not easy to squeeze freebies from Sales Agent 6) Aggressive Sales agents without giving you a second thought. Die die must buy 7) Sports edition model no longer assembled and sprayed in Japan but locally to save cost. Side skirts are not the original TRD edition. Quality of leather seats drop as compared to pioneer batch. Little info: 1) Perodua Myvi is using YRV engine. Only certain parts are compatible to Sirion. 2) Daihatsu Boon & Toyota Passo are exactly the same. Just different branding. 3) Since it's cater for Europe market, got to get to use to the signal indicator switch on the left. That's all.
