Hi to all

I'm currently using Armor All for my SF. It washes well and it's indeed value for money. When you buy a shampoo, you get a shampoo. You dun get a 2 in1 or a 3 in 1. You get only shampoo. That's wat I find in this brand.

Regards

Get the blue one, like Lester mentioned, just plain ole shampoo. Not the heavy duty(strips wax) or wash and wax (adds a film of donno what wax, hardly any....)

Hi Alan, another few super suds shampoo I've come across are Armor all and Volvo's car shampoo, not too ex too. Mother's is great also and if U're passing do get it.

I use a wash mitt, something like a hairy sponge. Bought from ACE Hardware Novena Sq.

oooh, digging up old threads again.

does sponge material matter? or they're made mostly the same? this wash mitt sounds like a glove, makes it easier to wash!

and u dry the car after a shampoo with microfibre cloth before applying quick detailer? or leave the drying till the last step?

i'm still researching the threads to find eh quickest, least taxing way of doing quick detailing. as long as it's zaino / wax friendly, even if it doesn't give perfect wet-look, i'll use it.

Hi, the wash mitt is quite useful and literally, handy. I switched to it from sponge and haven't looked back since. Easy to rinse out too! See the FibreShine thread here

And yes, dry the car off with a chamois before doing the detailer. I use Mother's Instant Detailer - love the shine and fragrance! nod.gif

i suppose for such simple tools like chamois (is chamois = microfibre cloth?) and spongest etc, i'll get a better price at places like carrefour? i noticed carrefour car accessories come at some of the lowest prices in the market.

Chamois is not MF cloth. i think they are very different.

Chamois and sponge are the "traditional" way of washing method. Yes they may be cheap, but not recommended. Washing car using chamois and sponge combination has a high chance of causing scratches to your car paint. [shakehead][shakehead][shakehead]

Now with Microfiber products and other new stuffs, the idea of "proper washing" technique and products is also changing.

Kanna influenced by my buddy, so now reading up alot about Microfiber, car accessories, car grooming stuffs. Still learning slowly, so do correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks! [:)]

chamois is the leather cloth-type thingy you use to dry off the car with.

well... if you're talking about saving $$, then, you might as well use an old t shirt and any old sponge? laugh.gif Suggest you just invest alittle to get quality stuff, it's worth the while! thumbsup.gif

i feel that no matter what material u use to wash car, be it chamois or MF, the act of washing is bound to induce swirl marks onto the paintwork of the car body.

MF claims to not scratch or create swirl marks, but the dirt particles it picks up will do so, so it's best to rinse the MF cloth often when washing.

and use soapy water to wash so as to reduce the friction between the car body and the cloth u are using.

yep, the best material will still scratch if it ends up in the wrong hands, so to avoid 'human error' rolleyes.gif , we do have to be careful and rinse out the cloth/MF cloth every so often. nod.gif

Agree with you! [nod][nod] no matter what you use, can't guarantee 100% no scratches. BUT using the right method /product /tool will help to reduce possible marring...

it is impt to rinse out your wash medium often. but if you rinse your wash mitt in the same car shampoo pail, then your wash mitt may catch the dirt again. you'll be re-introducing the dirt on to your car. [shakehead][shakehead][thumbsdown][thumbsdown]

That's why some will recommend rinsing in a separate pail of water. [thumbsup]

hope this helps.

Not always the case for all products. I bought the Meguairs rim brush for $17.90 from carefour thinking i can't go wrong, but the next day I saw the same thing at Homefix going for $16.90.. [:(] the Meguairs Hot Wheel rim cleaner was a steal during the promotion though, so it more than compensated for the $1 extra i paid for the brush.. [:)]

i'm using Meguiar's NXT car wash...

produces quite a lot of suds and the best thing is it's easy to rinse off and sheets off the water as well...

makes drying the car a breeze...

gives a relatively good shine too...

[thumbsup]

i top it off with OCW if it doesnt look like it's going to rain...

nod.gif agree about rinising separately. that's why it totally boggles my mind on how some can wash their cars with just ONE pail of water! dizzy.gifdizzy.gifdead.gif maybe they're using some magic shampoo! tongue.gif
