one of my uni mates recently rejected an acceptance the last min b4 he went down to the office to sign the letter of offer.

according to him, he din sign any papers or documents to show he has accepted the job.

but when he informed the company tat he decided not to take up the offer, he was told off rudely by the people there telling him how impolite he was.

by right, he is not in any case of obligations coz no papers or black and white were signed right?

is there such a thing as global HR blacklist? coz he's afraid this case might affect his job hunting presently and in the future.

thanks guys in advance

If he got the job through a job agency or recruiter, there's an outside chance that he may get blacklisted in their databases.

Depends on the industry as well, if it is quite small like certain niche industries, his name may surface in bad light if he's unlucky.

It ie merely ettiquette.....

Even though there is no HR interpol, remember this, the world is small and at conferences and gatherings, such incidents may be brought up and the world is small enuf for a 'invisible blacklist' to happen.....

just some advise

nope, he din get it thru any agents.

even if he's blacklisted in the data base, its only for that industry? or is there a unfortunate chance that it might be on a mutual list?

as mentioned...the industry is small and the big boys mingle together pretty often to exchange notes....

just keep a low profile and don't do it againwink.gif

so how should he go about his job hunting?

the market being in a bad situation is not exactly helping either.

even for myself, graduated since last dec, yet to get a job

Just continue as usual lor. If people bring it up (maybe the news really spread), then prepare to answer, that's all.

very surprise to hear this... expectations to high?

Jobs are everywhere I believe, but due to the happenings over the past 6months, perhaps companies may be more conservative in paying but they still need to hire I think. Just look at the classi ads,so many openings!

ya u will be surprise

nt setting expectations too high considering the fact i have no substantial and concrete experience to back me up with.

they are mostly hiring ppl with diplomas

and if they are looking for graduates, they need experiences

so freshies like us, we are at a disadvantage lor
