Singer Neutral Newbie September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 Unlike digital, reception is highly distorted. Needs a booster, may try SLT/SLS.
Idwish Clutched September 16, 2008 Author Share September 16, 2008 Thanks for the reply. Does that mean if I get a booster and I will be able to get close to digital picture quality?
Law_ong Neutral Newbie September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 if i not wrong, you might need to pay for the tv license fee for having tv on your vehicle...if need to pay, why not getting a digital and enjoy better reception?
Liuz0004 Clutched September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 (edited) what is the price difference between an analog and a digital tuner? i have tried analog tuner on cars b4. its very hard to get clear signals when the car is moving, esp in the tunnel. can hear cannot see. will a digital tuner solve this problem? i remember tat we do not need a tv license fee if the TV is a portable one. so u can purchase a portable one and save on the tv license fee. can hide in back boot when car is parked. need not afraid of break-ins Edited September 16, 2008 by Liuz0004
Law_ong Neutral Newbie September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 i not sure of the cost as i not into this. the fee thing was told by my instructor when i was learning driving in the 90s who has the TV installed in his car.
Tjy87 Neutral Newbie September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 I have a digital box in my car... have been toying arnd tv tuner... the difference between digital and analogue is that for digital images, if u can get the signal, either u can see it clearly, or it will be a black screen, or u will have paused images... it won't be distorted like the analogue... For analogue, i tink it is almost impossible to get a clear undistorted view in the car... and 1 of the reply was regardin the tunnel... digital confirm cannot see in tunnel.... And for analogue.. it can receive Chanl U... but digital cannot..... digital can receive TVmobile, but not analogue...

Zafira18 1st Gear September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 Active analog will improve the quality of reception. Most antenna sold locally are passive....

Vtim 3rd Gear September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 Can someone advise if I can receive good reception with a GOOD antenna on analog TV tuner? If yes, where can I buy the antenna ? Not keen to invest on a digital tuner .Thanks Analog tuner won't be good in a car, even inside a house in the old days, roof top antenna (either on landed or HDB) also not necessary gives you perfect image (some with what we call ghostly image). On the move, no way you can get a picture, if you park somewhere that is full of tall buildings, all the image will be distorted, unless you are high up in places that do not have any blockage and have a clear line of sight from the broadcasting station's antenna farm. Nowadays, all flats have SCV cable point, so even you do not subscribe to SCV, that cable point still brings you the usual TV Channel which is better in pictures than if you are using the old HDB roof top antenna (don't think there still is, maybe very old flat) or those internal bipolar antenna that sit on top of the TV. if you buy digital tuner, at the moment, you can only watch whatever MobileTV program, not the usual programs you see on Channel 5/8/U etc... Singer Neutral Newbie September 16, 2008 Share September 16, 2008 I have long ditched this toy. My HU is now only used for radio/CD and DVD. The last time I checked, price for analog antenna can be anywhere below $100. Digital: abt $200++. Autobac is having promotion on Nera at $299. A good buy but as a bro mentioned, will only give you 4 channels
