Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear January 16, 2009 Share January 16, 2009 HI, I am like walking in the wrong street by posting this and like asking for trouble to get myself shot in here.. but can't help it. I think I am being biased to myself having driven Japs car for the past 10yrs and Conti cars for the last 10 years. From the long thread, I see that some prefer the Mazda 5 over the stream due to it's more Conti feel... I am just thinking, an Opel Zafira 1.8MTA is German car and assembled in Germanay. Truly conti feel car and dynamic. Highly stable at bends and very steady at 180Km/h, FC of 10.5-11( actual. Paper 13km/l ), very roomy and adult can sit comfortably in the last row. Servicing cost and repair not much difference from other makes... Spare parts stocks easily available, can also be tuned and re-map to 170hp, 5 star encap.. and most importantly they are going under $70K... why was it not being considered?? Unlike the Touran that's going for like 87K which cost way off but Zaffy price is just around the corner.. Please, I am not the sales or dealer but been driving and liking conti car for a while and thought the Zafira pricing is very very attractive... and trying to find the reason to not look at it. Perhaps it's the MTA that people hate it... I am not sure... Okay now can shoot me... yikes... So cheap? Below $70k? Also cheap to maintain?

Quirky_ster Clutched January 17, 2009 Share January 17, 2009 (edited) So cheap? Below $70k? Also cheap to maintain? servicing every 10K... other than that.. it's the usual wear and tear. Unless you drive a Merc or Beemer... there's nothing to shout about... Basically trouble free for me.. been owning 3 Opel for the last 12 years now. .. go and test drive the car and find out for your self... Oh and the Zafira comes with the sports switch... that blew the other MPVs breezefully... ( except the Touran of course.. ) Edited January 17, 2009 by Quirky_ster
Eko6 2nd Gear January 17, 2009 Share January 17, 2009 The MSCP near my house got one Zafira few years ago. After about 2 years, the car not there anymore. Not sure if the owner moved house or changed car. Opel spare part should be quite high. My friend replaced something after the warranty costed him 1.8K. Subsequent visit another 500. Neokn Neutral Newbie January 18, 2009 Share January 18, 2009 Ya, it look bulky, but in Hong Kong, it is the most popular MPV, a lot of celebrities bought it... :) True, I think it's the current trend now. Just look @ those Korean and Japan Series on the live style of Artiste; you will notice they're being chauffer around in the type of transport with the back windows fully darken. Even my friends' wedding in MY uses this as a wedding car.

Mz5 is 77k to Zafira 80k 2. Mz5 Power sliding door for both side. (Need this as for the old folks ease of access) 3. Can get FOC service from my uncle workshop for JDM car. Not sure if the owner moved house or changed car. Opel spare part should be quite high. My friend replaced something after the warranty costed him 1.8K. Subsequent visit another 500. These days we have workshop that specializes in Opel. Of course anything after warranty back to agent price is on the high side. Not unique to Opel. that's why most people go to their own trusted workshop outside once outside the warranty period. Also parts can be imported direct from Europe at a fraction 50% - 80% cheaper of the price you would pay from the master dealer here. Of course every car have it's plus and minus but my message is if you are looking for a car with Conti feel then, the real Conti cars is at the same price or if not cheaper... The price on sgcarmart/------ are indicative only.. you will get the actual price once you see them... at least I know for Opel that's the case most of the time.. ;) So long you are happy with your ride, meets your driving expectation and it serves the purpose.. it does not matter if it is Japan, Korean, German or even China.. or perhaps Malaysia.. Cheers!

Just curious what is the term and condition? Previously when they advertised Zafira at 70K, I called up to enquire and was told it is with very high interest rate, like close to 5% , and after cashback. You sure it's a no string attached price? Too bad I can only consider another car in 7 years from now, maybe . Sports switch? Meaning the gear? Anyway, Mazda 5 and RSZ both have manual override, which is also can control the gear better

Theman Clutched January 19, 2009 Share January 19, 2009 I like the original one as the reception is better than the short one I have. But I got a heart attack once. There is once I went into one MSCP with a lot of pillars on the roof. When driving in, I know the antenna hit some of the pillar but I know it is ok as the antenna will "bend". But when I want to reverse my car when I park, I heard some noise on the roof and I know it may break due to our antenna is not those which can bend both ways. So no choice I stop my car, and remove the antenna. From there, I never use my long one. In fact there is one shop selling the short Mazda antenna with Mazda packaging but it cost $25, which I think too expensive for some dummy device. As for MP3, I only know it can use iPod, is your iPod? mind only the USB thumbdrive. Last time my car audio has a USB port, so i just plug it in and can play MP3 liao...very convenient... Thanks.
