Topgann2003 Neutral Newbie September 20, 2008 Share September 20, 2008 I was driving along South Bridge Road towards China Town area yesterday morning, on the second left lane. A blue Honda Integra came out from Circular road, turning into South Bridge Road. This is a awkward section as there is a bus lane. The driver could not filter to the seocnd left lane and had no choice but to follow behind a bus. Other cars in front of me didn't want to give him way to get out of the bus lane, which is something I see every now and then. Howevere, I gladly did as I know the next bus that came along might just happily snap a photo of him without even considering if he had deliberately encroached into the bus lane. What I saw next is a rare show of appreciation. After filtering into the second left lane and ahead of me, the driver in that Blue Integra sticked out his right hand and thanked me for giving him way. It was so obvious that I could see his whole arm and hand waving a gesture of gratitude. Why I say this is rare simply because a lot of drivers I encounter don't even bother to wave (in the rear mirrow section, like I always do) to signal "thank you".... ↡ Advertisement

Fishy 4th Gear September 20, 2008 Share September 20, 2008 hmm... i have actually done this a few times for other people but they didnt respond by waving but i just drive on. its basic courtesy, no need to be taught in driving centers but some drivers just take it for granted esp taxis

I am always polite and patient, sticking my right hand out to other drivers as a gesture of thanks and/or appreciation. How come nobody compliment me? What is your car plate number? Next time I go in front of you and stick my whole right hand out.....

Since there are people apologizing in this Complaint section, I reckon its just as good to use this section to complain about all the drivers who do not behave like this polite driver. Shull Turbocharged September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 well..i usually did that too..give a wave of thanks inside the car so that the driver behind can view from my rear windscreen.. and sometimes, i get people thanking me too..very good way of passing the courtesy baton..
Icekitten Clutched September 23, 2008 Share September 23, 2008 I wave too, but I suddenly wondered if the driver behind can see me waving thru my rear windscreen tint? Which is still legal btw. ↡ Advertisement
