Ilmw 1st Gear October 6, 2008 Share October 6, 2008 Went down to 2 audio shops in Alexandar on Fri 3 Oct 2008. 1 shop quoted H701 + C701 for S$1250, due to low stocks. The other shop more friendly, told me to forget it as supplier no more stock. Check crutchfield.com, it lists H701 as discontinued. In other forums, there is also talk of H701 as being discontinued. I am in the market for H701+C701. What should I do? There seems to be no replacement for H701, not from Alpine nor other mfg. Do I really have to fork out a 25% premium for the low-stock status? (I've SPDIF digital from carputer to H701 to amp, so if H701 is not there, my whole setup breaks down). ↡ Advertisement

Greggywong Neutral Newbie October 6, 2008 Share October 6, 2008 one of the shop is dynasty soundcraft?
Ilmw 1st Gear October 6, 2008 Author Share October 6, 2008 Yes, dynasty soundcraft is the 3rd shop, but it's too far from the coffeeshop and it is HOT that day. So in the end, i didn't hop over. Can you tell me something abt H701 @ Dynasty?
Ilmw 1st Gear October 6, 2008 Author Share October 6, 2008 H650 is meant to jazz up your OEM HU sound. hence H650 inputs are RCA to suit the output of HU. H701 is more generic. it takes Ai-net, RCA and the best, digital over SPDIF. anything can send "digital over SPDIF" to H701, including PCs and laptops. Greggywong Neutral Newbie October 6, 2008 Share October 6, 2008 i am not much of an ICE person..just that I bought it together with the RUX-C701 to do some minor tuning on my sound system. Why dun you drop by Dynasty Soundcraft, I believe they might have the H701 in stock.
Protege 1st Gear October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 Went down to 2 audio shops in Alexandar on Fri 3 Oct 2008. 1 shop quoted H701 + C701 for S$1250, due to low stocks. The other shop more friendly, told me to forget it as supplier no more stock. Check crutchfield.com, it lists H701 as discontinued. In other forums, there is also talk of H701 as being discontinued. (I've SPDIF digital from carputer to H701 to amp, so if H701 is not there, my whole setup breaks down). H701 is going to be discontinued. However, I am a little surprise at your comment about the price that is being quoted to you is at 25% premium at S$1250. So you are saying the regular market price for H701 + C701 should be around SGD940 or so? As far as my memory serve me right, typical price of C701 is about SGD350 while the H701 is normally about SGD800 (include installation and tuning). So with the above price combination, its about SGD1150 in the market before the price hike.
Ilmw 1st Gear October 7, 2008 Author Share October 7, 2008 (edited) US online websites lists H701+C701 for a total of USD700 which is SGD1K. That said, I do not dispute locally selling at SGD11xx. This is with margin already, since at least one local audio shop dares (brave by local standards) to advertise this figure online. Protege 1st Gear October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 Bro, recently I heard there are shops offering very low prices when being ask to quote but they cannot deliver as no stocks. Looking the at situation now where I heard the Alpine agent is increaseing the price for H701, $1250 is a decent price. Alternatively is to get 2nd hand.
