M2cys Neutral Newbie November 22, 2008 Share November 22, 2008 No regret using it! Really put a lot of branded product in shame! NXT is the best wax I have used so far
Samster69 Clutched November 22, 2008 Share November 22, 2008 (edited) Oh really ? I presume brands like duragloss, klasse, zaino etc are craps to you . Care to share your experience with them ? Edited November 22, 2008 by Samster69
Davc Neutral Newbie November 24, 2008 Share November 24, 2008 I think everyone should use what they like, recommend it to friends if you would really like more people to enjoy it. But there is no need to say that expensive wax are pointless. e.g. no doubt for our weather, sealant makes more sense but I just can't resist the look of a good carnauba...see it gradually glows....wah.... Then you buff it off and wait 24hr for the 2nd layer.....then it really glows....
Auditt Neutral Newbie November 24, 2008 Share November 24, 2008 A good sealant is enough for me. I looked for durabitily and protection. Look at the weather recently, sunny and next moment it rains. Expensive wax? . Anything wrong when commented about expensive wax ?
Robo 2nd Gear November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 eh... i tried this NXT over the weekend. result is perfect! worth every cent. later in the night i post some pics.
Wuluikia Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 go look at the results of the wax test. expensive wax are pointless. if u like carnauba, I would prefer to use a "cheaper" wax option that provide the adequate protection vs an "expensive" wax that provide less protection. Anyway, I would not want to compare a wax against a sealant.
Davc Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 I've tried #21 Sealant from Meg too, it's essentially the professional version of Tech Wax 2.0 like I said the Singapore weather requires something like that for good protection. When it comes to the look, it's up to individual taste. I just love the wet look of carnauba. Only expensive ones have high carnauba content that goes up to 40+% or even 50+%, which I feel more capable to withstand the weather here. Normal ones can be gone in no time. Don't say compare sealant and carnauba. Even when comparing carnauba within the same brand from different range, the difference is there.
Auditt Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 Hmmm.... High end carnauba more capable to withstand the weather? . Normal ones are crap? Before you start commenting further, try more before you start acting like a pro. Allow me to say this, I'm using Klasse SG, much better than #21. Four4s 1st Gear November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 (edited) I think he meant high end carnauba can withstand better than low end nuba. Your example of klasse sg or megs 21 are both not carnaubas. choice of wax is really an individual choice... i can see where Davc is coming from. I've spent an disproportionate amount on car detailing supplies, and it's really a case of the more you try, the more informed your decision will be. Furthermore, there are so many factors to consider when choosing the right wax for your car. Is your car sheltered/unsheltered, dark/bright colour, do you want looks or protection etc. Edited November 25, 2008 by Four4s
Auditt Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 Your example of klasse sg or megs 21 are both not carnaubas. I'm comparing sealant with sealant as per post. I believe Turtlewax premium contains some carnauba in it, read it somewhere it last longer than some high carnauba content wax, care to explain? Never try a high end wax before, do they really last longer? How can we tell?
Wuluikia Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 based on the biggest wax test as posted in detailing folder, I would prefer 476 over some of the many so call "high end wax" factor in consideration is $$$.
Blue2 1st Gear November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 er...noobs here... will carnauba glow in the dark
Davc Neutral Newbie November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 I said, sealant lasts longer. I also know klasse famous for protection. But i want carnauba for it's look, and want protection hence have to go to higher end carnauba. Everyone's consideration is different. Klasse is good. Worth experiment. The other day i tried klasse aio with meg #16 very glossy but not enough depth in my opinion. My latest job is using swissvax pro cleaner plus mystery. . . It's just different. Maybe top this sv mystery on klasse even better i haven't try but i heard this formula good.
Four4s 1st Gear November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 I have no experience with turtlewax premium, so i can't comment on that specific product. However, I would not be surprised and I would agree that most good sealants do last longer (beading wise) than expensive carnaubas. However, my personal experience with high end carnaubas is that while it lasts shorter than a sealant, it protects better while it lasts e.g. water marks etching, bird-poo stains etc. Also, the car releases dirt much easier. One blast from the hose, and a lot of the dirt is washed away, hence reducing the risk of swirls/hair-line scratches for me before my wash mitt even touches the paint. Do i need a product to last 3 - 6 months? not really, cos my car is mostly unsheltered and after the end of the 2nd month the paint work feel slightly bumpy anyway regardless of sealant or carnauba wax and it would need to be clayed soon. If i didn't care about this aspect, i would just take one of those pps packages that can last for 3 years lol! (if you did opt for a pps, just observe your metallic trim near windows for water marks after a few months). Does a high end wax last longer than a cheaper one? not per se... you just have to read the reviews. For what it's worth, the dodojuice supernatural v2 (not my most expensive wax tho) on my car is still beading like a champ after 7 weeks but i intend to strip it and re-wax it again soon cos it's losing a bit of its looks. Four4s 1st Gear November 25, 2008 Share November 25, 2008 (edited) anyway, for what it's worth, I've seen Megs 21 on silver and black and it looks like a champ. Very wet looking. It's a good product. Abt carnauba glow... you got to see it to believe it. Put a car with sealant under flo lights and it's super reflective and maybe wet. Put a car with high-end carnauba under flo lights and it looks "radioactive"... there's a glow. haha! that's the best i can describe it. Anyhow, i wouldn't hesitate to put a sealant on a silver or white car. Difficult to see watermarks or swirls on that colour. So there's a place for both sealant and carnauba in the market and it's just a personal choice. Edited November 25, 2008 by Four4s

Since a wax can do wonders, then what is a sealant for? Frankly, I read many detailers used sealant to protect against snow but never come across using wax.
