Redeeming airtickets via kris flyer very leceh.

 

Coz they got limit on num of seats per flight & usu most prob it be fully booked unless u book way in advance.

Sign up for AMEX krisflyer card... beside the 5000miles for 1st usage of card, also got 50% more points for SIA air tic purchased online... but for AMEX many places do not accept or additional charge apply.. came to realise this when just about to use my card, end up using visa again..

Now.... is this worth it??

 

5000 miles credited first instance,. .... for every dollar spent, receive 1 mile.

 

SIN-BKK, normal required is 25,000 miles to redeem a ticket in economy saver award (provided can get the saver award).

 

Miles Required

Singapore - Bangkok Round Trip

Economy Saver 25000

Economy Standard 50000

Economy Full 76000

 

If booked online, normal get 15% discount, so need 21250 miles, minus away 5000 miles, still will require 16250, i.e. one would have to spend S$16250 to get a free ticket, on top of that have to pay fuel surcharge and airport taxes, which is about S$145.00.

 

Now let's look at how you can get miles by flying, SIN-LHR, is 8452 miles awarded, if fly with SQ then bonus is 25% added, which will be 1690, so total miles awarded will be 10142, plus the 5000 miles initially credited by amex, it will be not enough to redeem a SIN-BKK return, even on saver.

 

Got to fly until backside tear and spend like crazy before able to redeem a decent ticket.

1 month to process and comes with a process fee ard SGD25 depending on the CCC.

 

Is the process free of S$25 a one time fee for any amount of credit card points redeem??

For me, I think applying for AMEX krisflyer card only when u are already a frequent traveller due to work requirement.. I dun meant to earn krisflyer purely through this card.. will go crazy with just spending to earn krisflyer points..

if you travel frequently (or spend at overseas), you should opt for maybank visa horizon card.

 

As for SQ/Krisflyer card, no matter how you much you add here add there (even online booking at SQ.coms.g), you wont get the type of points Maybank is offering. Their adding system only makes 1 confuse.

 

Whereas Horizon card is straightforward.
