Rskeisuke Clutched November 30, 2008 Share November 30, 2008 (edited) eat: famous duck noodle at bidor town, some eateries at lumut town, gayam bbq buffet at resort shopping: giant hypermarket at seri manjung activities: solid rally-like drive from main road into resort(standby videocam), free bicycle, samsara spa, nice swimming pool, hop over to pangkor island from lumut jetty basically, the resort is situated quite far off main road or town, hence, you won't usually bother to drive out all the time. route that i took: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=bido...3,0.727844&z=11 Edited November 30, 2008 by Rskeisuke
Dwoon 1st Gear December 1, 2008 Share December 1, 2008 (edited) As mentioned, it about a 25 minute drive to Lumut or the neaest town. Else there is nothing nearby to eat (unless you eat all the time in the resort which is expensive). Be careful of mosquitoes. Coils & patches don't work on them. My then 2 year old kid got very badly bitten and the bites by those mossies there are not like those lcoally. They get swollen and have some liquid... then if scratch, it break the skin and get's infected if not taken care of properly. That being said, the place is nice. You can use it as base to make a day trip to Pangkor (park in Lumut). There's also the leaning tower (Bidor I think), some croc farm about half hour drive away. Oh, keep your balcony windows closed as the monkeys will come in and grab your stuff otherwise. Cheers. Edited December 1, 2008 by Dwoon

Sgt1086 Neutral Newbie January 2, 2009 Author Share January 2, 2009 We going there on 13-15 Dec. Will update you abt the place. We are staying at the resort next to Swiss Garden as they have complimentary golf for the guests. Bro any updates from your Swiss Garden resort trip? Anyway I just came back from 3days 3 nights Daimai Laut Swiss Garden and Golf resort. The place is abt 1 and half hour drive from Ipoh town. Generally it is a good place to stay with lots of activities catering for couples, family with young children and golfers. They are situated quite remotely away about from main road and the nearest town with Giant hyper mart and a few reasonable good n affortable chinese local seafood restaurant. You got to pay for higher price if u are going to have your meal at the resort. The resort have a very nice n cosy seaside wooden restaurant which is ideal for sunset and sunrise watching while enjoying your meal. However the sea is rough for now and not ideal for swimming. There are also flies around but not too bad or anyway threatening while eating there. The private beach is not as wide and long as Kuantan Cherating. Due to time constraint I didnt got to take a boat to Pangkor island which just nearby. Had two rounds of complimentary golf games exclude buggy and caddy. The drive is smooth n scenic with plenty of petrol station along the way from Ipoh for filling up and short breaks. Driving speed is about 90km/hr on the normal road. I do not know the way but totally rely on my Garmin to take me there.

Btw, we'll be staying at swiss garden, any idea how can we get to pangkor island, is the jetty right at the hotel or do we have to take a taxi to the jetty? Nani Neutral Newbie March 8, 2011 Share March 8, 2011 Isn't safe to park sg car at Lumut jetty and take the ferry to pangkor island for a day? Or leave the car at hotel and take taxi to lumut jetty? Thanks for valuable advise :)
Dwoon 1st Gear March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 The last time I was there about 4 years ago, we did a day trip leaving the car at the carpark near Lumut Jetty. If I remember correctly, it was actually a school compound..... there's plenty there. As usual, do the necessary precaution such as steering wheel lock and no valuables in sight. Then again, mine's a jap car.... and not common in Malaysia....... guess no value in stealing it.
Dwoon 1st Gear March 24, 2011 Share March 24, 2011 How are you going to Swiss garden Damai Laut? If driving, why take a taxi to the jetty? It is not near.... Lumut jetty is about half hour drive away. In fact, I don't even recall seeing any taxis at the resort..... The resort is actually an out of the way place and situated within a country club. There's a ripe smell at certain times and BEWARE of the mosquitoes. We had dinner at the beach front restuarant and my girl about 3yo then, was badly bitten and the bites rather bad.... swell with a watery centre.... which grew into puss. Took weeks to fully heal and left those 10c, 20c scars on her thighs. Oh.... don't leave things on the balcony.... not even rubbish as the monkeys will get at them and dirty the entire place. One even did a dump on my balcony. ↡ Advertisement
