they say there an aux input at the glove compartment there.. but i cant find nothing..

It might be a 3.5mm plug for external source of input. Look for a hole to plug the stereo 3.5mm plug. Of it might be add on which ur car did not have.

Hi,

Used to own a Pre FL MZ3, dun think it comes with an aux in cable or 3.5mm plug for external source. So if you wanna play your ipod or mp3 player, you can go down to an audio store and have it installed. Once installed, you can play your mp3 player via your original headunit.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Media button is for optional aux input or Sirius radio(overseas only).

Aux input can be installed by MM @ Kg Ampat. Cost is about $200 the last I know (about 2 years back)

Better alternative if you want to hook up ipod is to go to JDM Autocare and get the ipod connector.

I got mine from them. Can change tracks from steering-mounted controls, and charges the ipod at the same time.

It means the Media button is just a dummy button? Its still useless if i just install the plug but need to install the entire aux computer chip into it so that I able to play mp3 or other source or audio output..?

If you install the aux input from MM, it will be hooked up to the media button function. ie to select the aux input as the source. With this you can plug to your mp3/ipod player or mobile phone or any other audio source. No need any other chip or anything, except for a RCA-RCA cable or RCA-3.5mm cable. The aux input from MM is basically a stereo RCA connector with the appropriate mating plug to attach to the headunit.

Price would be about $200 or so. item can be seen here: Mazda Aux

Price on website is excluding installation, which last I know (abt 2 yrs ago) was about $100 for labour (MM of coz) Outside can probably do it for a much lower price.

BUT, I much prefer using the XCARLINK ipod adaptor. Allows changing of tracks on the ipod via the steering-mounted controls and charging the ipod at the same time. They also have a version for plugging thumbdrive to play mp3 files. both come with an additional 3.5mm plug to connect other audio sources like mp3 players or mobile phones.

Ok noted. I personally didn't use ipod so it doesn't matter so much about the controls but it would be better to have more features. anyway thanks for it once again. Nowadays even some cars (infact most of them) already came with the aux plug already.. <_<

Well, that's for most of the newer design models. MZ3 model is already more than 5 years old. At that time not so common yet. And I think it was designed that way so that they can sell it as a optional accessory.
