Gwensilvz 1st Gear February 19, 2009 Share February 19, 2009 Hi! I have a couple of noob questions! Please advise! I have a pioneer dvd HU in my car and when i scroll through the settings, there's this HPF (High Pitch Frequency) option where u can off or set to like 80hz, etc. May I know what is this for?? And also what's the difference between 'Normal' and 'Reverse' option for my subwoofer and how the frequency setting affects the output? Cheers! ↡ Advertisement

Cheers! if you have a REAL subwoofer, then it would work. it switches the output of the SW. If no SW, den the setting is useless. thats wad i think. have a Pioneer 6050 Single Din. HPF is the pitch lor. that one not sure. (: urs is 6050 DVD?

Harveynorman Neutral Newbie February 19, 2009 Share February 19, 2009 (edited) If you stand infront and look at the subwoofer when its playing the cone is moving. It moves air wave forcing out what u call bass. In phase means its moving towards you. Reverse phase means it moving away from you. with your front components (speakers) playing, play between these 2 settings to try to make the subwoofer sound infront of you. not behind you. HPF - High Pass Filter In this case means the HU is cutting or filtering frequencies making the speaker not play anything below 80hz. play between the figures. try to make your bass sound punchy but not distorted. different HPF settings suit diff speakers.
