ABS light on - Help!

I was driving mid-way on the roads yesterday when the ABS light in my dashboard's control suddenly lit up. I took this to mean that my braking system was in trouble and I kept my car slow till I reached home. The thing is that I was still able to brake and all. Can any kind soul tell me what it means exactly when the ABS light is lit and if it's safe for me to drive my car to workshop to get it checked or should I call for a tow truck?

Thanks a bunch!

ABS light on can be caused by many things but common fault is at the ABS wheel sensor(dirt accumulating). Better have your mechanic look at it to find out what exactly is causing the light to be on.

You can definitely brake while the ABS light is lit, but how safe we dunno. ABS is afterall to help u better control your steering in case you jam brake and the car skid.

Dun worry abt it, most likely its your ABD sensor went crazy. I had the same problem before, just ask your AD to change it, should be under warranty if your car is less than 3 yrs. Can drive your car as usual. But better to have it rectified ASAP.

My ride's a parallel import...can any workshop rather than the AD change the sensors? Any ball park figure for how much the change would cost bro?

I had the same problem once, you can still brake as normal, just no ABS for e braking.

My warning light went off automatically the next time I restart the car, hopefully yours is the same. Those lights do get cranky sometimes....

Could be your ABS sensor dirty.

Here is a link to show how to clean ABS sensor, but I think its better if a qualified mechanic do it instead of DIY.
