Tyre Width Not All Same

Come across different brand tyres and going thru their provided specification found there are differences although is having the same tyre size. Example between Hankook V12 & Federal Evo for 195-55-15 tyre size, we would presume it should have the same 195mm tyre width planting on the ground. I was wrong. Hankook has 164mm width and Federal has 174mm. Full 10mm wider. Hankook 205-50-15 has 172mm width planting on the road. Really surprise me. Just to share. All info provided by the main tyre suppliers themselves.

where can the info be found? 195 width doesn't mean contact width anyway.

difference is in the water longkang

 

The section width is the one that is reflected by the tyre size ... +/- a little.

You will get more treadwidth if you get full slicks.
