First thing first is to discharge your car. Just hang a piece of chain or wire from the rear towing point of the car.

Second is to touch the car body with your hand Before you lift your backside from the seat.

 

There is no magic rod that can absorbs your body static. What the rod does is to diasharge the static from the tip of the rod to your car body when you touch the rod to the car. It just divers the spark feeling from your finger tip to that of the rod. You might still feel a general sensation where the rod and your palm incontact.
