Been looking for a low cost to own car like starlet... wondering if U guys can help?? i hope to get 1 at abt 2.5k of depri a year, so that i can have some cash for emergency (for the car) of course if the car is in good cond i can adjust.

Anyone can share their experiences with their Starlet? Intend to get 1 for a short term drive. Maybe long term depending on how reliable it is.

But most importantly, what are the lil things that I need to take note about a starlet if I get from SGcarmart? Saw a few and most of them seemed in ok-not-too-bad condition.

And how does the PQP COE thingy work about?

serious boh. actually i'm looking for a A-B pt car. Driving to work and studies only. So fast or not is not a problem. Every morning and evening sure jam at AYE. More concern is FC, safety and also reliability. Old cars are prone to problems but when the car cannot start, it's the greatest nightmare.

 

Unless starlet itself got no problems with starting engine in a cold morning, I think I don't mind getting one.

Make use of the choke liberally when u cold start (is it only applicable for weber carbs ???) ... no worries abt cold start for me ever =)

Btw, legal starlets are carburetted cars and require some skill and getting used to, when starting and moving off in the cold mornings.

 

This is unlike the happily EFI-ed versions of 4EFTE Starlets, which shouldn't have that much of an issue ;)

my ex starlet EP80 had absolutely no problem starting in the mornings...carb or efi...

use the choke. it's there for a reason. use suitable oil grade and make sure you change your spark plugs on schedule.

 

Weber even easier. pump the accelerator three times, hold open the throttle for about 5 seconds, release, then start. fires up with a good roar.

my old 1E carb nvr had a problem starting..

 

i use 5w40 fully synthetic somemore.
