actually

C&C service sucks.

they cant even do simple programming to retrofit a Comand APS (I-drive/MMI) for our vehicles.

they give the excuse "We believe that factory parts are best"

So up till today we have to get experts from overseas to do the coding for our Comand retrofits.

In fact, outside workshops like MBM are easily as EXPERIENCED as the AD workshops. for BMW i guess it would be juzz for cars

In western countries, technicians are much more respected and getting more pay. If you are transferred from sales to engineering department, that's a promotion.

But in asia it is different. Hence many capable people wants to quit technical jobs to command higher pay.

The result is that the overall technical ability of technicians are not as good as compared to say UK or Germany. Of course, at that salary it is not possible. Double their pay, fire the incapable ones and you can see the improvement but......are the customers willing to pay that price increase?

Hmm...I'm another one who doesn't think the roof cut is really nice. And yeah, asia has quite a long way to go in the automobile industry

I just attended the E class launch on Friday evening. The E Class coupe is a really nice car.The E class coupe comes in 2 variants. The E250 CGI Blue Efficiency and the E350.

The E250 comes with a 1.8L in line 4 engine. Output of 204 HP and Torque of 310 Nm. Century sprint of 7.6 sec.

The E350 comes with a 3.5L V6 engine. Output of 272 HP and Torque of 350Nm. Century sprint of 6.4 sec.

The exterior of the car looks very different from the E class 4 door saloon. It looks like a mini CLS. The front lights look kind of funny with the squarish front lights but it somehow grows on you once you look at the car at different angles. It definitely looks nicer in real life than in the pictures. This car has a very low drag coefficient. The wonder of this car is that is that it doesn't have a centre beam at the windows so the back passengers will have a very good view of the front. It also does away with any blind spots for the driver.

Sitting in the car feels like heaven. The seats are a 2+2 configuration and are very comfortable. Even the back seats have enough head room for adults which is lacking in most coupes. Getting into the back is easy. You just have to pull the lever on the front seat and it will automatically move in front for you to get in. Once you're in , all you have to do is pull the front seat back and it will automatically go back to its original position. The side of the driver's seat feels very much like sitting the the C class except that the steering comes in 3 spoke and has paddle shifts. It has a Audio 20 with integral CD changer and has a 8 speakers.

I haven't test driven the E coupe yet but will let you know when I get the chance.

Its a handsome looking car, with a great interior.

The only downside is the 2 rear seats have non practical headroom. Its too low. Only children and really short adults can sit in the rear.

As long as one ain't expecting CLS size of rear seats, the car is probably the best coupe in its price segment

Actually its funny you mention is250, because i drive one. I have to say, as far as my opinion goes, that the cluster on the is250 is actually (to me), more driver centric than the BMW or the Merc.

You get a nice big speedo on one side + fuel gauge on one side, speedo and temp on the other. Tiny screen on the top (the one that says door open in the pic below) can be configured to show current gear, at least thats how i configure it.

Non critical stuff gets shifted to the side and if nothing is wrong, the diagnostic panels are blacked out (the blank areas on the far left and far right, where you see the red brake warning in the pic above

In addition, you get speed/rpm amber rings which are user programmable at any time to light up at a speed/rpm of your choosing. It also lights up red when speed exceeds 200km/h on the speedo and when you hit 6500rpm on the tacho.

And best of all, i think the optitron instrument lighting is just pure sex.

Not saying the is250 is a better car than the merc or bmw...not at all...but as far as instrumentation goes, i think its well ahead.

Maybe i just have wierd taste.

Anyway enough OT. sorry for the threadjack

oh so thats wat the damn amber ring is for. how to program it?

Nice car! looks grow on you.

If it was given a twin turbo 3.5L V6, would give the bmw 335i a run for its money!

Merc V6 sound so good at the exhaust, I hope they don't spoil that 'mechanical' sound by putting in a turbo.

I saw the movie clip of upcoming F-10 5 series, maybe a turbo, it cannot sound as sweet as a good Merc V engine.
