Mcf777 Turbocharged October 24, 2009 Share October 24, 2009 (edited) most of the outside workshop is at least 30-40% cheaper than SM motors. Example : A) Changing timing belt package : around S$900 (SMM) and around S$450 (outside workshop) B) ATF : around S$450 (SMM) and around S$180 (outside workshop) - for certain car model using the Toyota Type 4 oil It will be much more cheaper if you can source the parts direct from sweden and ask the singapore workshop to install it. Example : front/rear Brake pad, left/right control arms etc etc Edited October 24, 2009 by Mcf777 ↡ Advertisement
Pss2 2nd Gear October 24, 2009 Author Share October 24, 2009 So a Volvo servicing is cheaper than X-type? What is the servicing interval? 16000km?
Isaaccas Neutral Newbie October 25, 2009 Share October 25, 2009 Your friend definitely kanna con....how can it be any workshop outside charging same as SM? SM price is one of the "Best" price among the ADs, It might be even "better" than Performance Motor. I sent my car to a well known workshop at sin ming. The boss is my old classmate back in poly... Woonyang Clutched October 25, 2009 Share October 25, 2009 No wonder ppl say MCFers are so unfriendly. Can't I just ask? I can afford just a used x-type to be honest but I don't want to be burden by servicing if it is going to cost a lot. I have left MCF many years already as it is getting mess up by ppl like u. I just start to post and u give such sarcastic remarks. I know u r rich but u dun have to make this remark. Can't I do my research here with ppl who ever own this car? his nick and demeanour not reflective of AM owner. very doubtful. maybe a R/C AM. you looking for towkay car? otherwise IMO Saab 9-3 or Alfa 159 are nice. Angelinasoul Neutral Newbie October 25, 2009 Share October 25, 2009 probaly you might want to know this as one of your consideration to buy Jaguar? what are the best resale models for Jaguar Just some little information, good luck in your buy! Davc Neutral Newbie October 26, 2009 Share October 26, 2009 (edited) X-type is nice, you just get a set of big rims and low profile tires, lower the car 1 inch, polish it nicely and it will look very cool. Of course you've considered OMV, road tax, future value, maintenance, comfort, fuel consumption etc etc and decided on X-type? I think it is fine car, just that at that price it has many formidable competitors. Edited October 26, 2009 by Davc

Maybe... but she service with SM, very expensive till i scared of Volvo brand. Anyway, I am not buying now but can plan and save up. By the time I am ready to switch to conti, I am ready in terms of mindset and financially.

I like both too but will need to do some survey on servicing for both cars but since Volvo is the most expensive and can be much cheaper outside, so i think both cars should be not a problem i hope. More interested to check on X-type.

I've been a fan of Jaguar since young but my dad cannot afford that big cc car and can only settle with 1.3 or 1.6 Japanese/Korean cars in the 80s. So I hope to buy one (only one i can afford is X-Type on a little stretch but should be fine if i start saving for the downpayment) to ferry my parents around. Actually they have a car to but under utlitlise at only 500km per month. I am not a Mercedes / BMW fan, and Audi is not cheap too. I also find X-Type quite fierce is get a big set of rims but I will settle with whatever i have if it comes with the car (if i really buy in the next 2 years). You've got the right attitude as a motor head man Start small, then gradually move up. No need to buy new car that lose a lot of money.

Hi thanks... i seriously do hope i can buy in the near future, working towards it now... alternatives will be Volvo, Saab or Alfa which shares same dep as the X- Type, if really cannot realise my dream, then maybe a Citroen. Almost get a Citroen but heard of the scary stories behind this marque. My fav cars since young is actually old Citroens, Saab then Jaguar. Seriously i don't really ever think of owning a MB or BMW. Haha. Citroen really need proper maintainance, though the problem doesn't lie in the hydropneumatic suspension. Prob lies in anything that's electric-operated in the car.
