Skoda Spb Power Steering Fluid

hi old friends

This morning wife was attempting to drive and the steering wheel had a sound. Basically the power steering fluid empty. Where can we buy this conveniently (we are around Tg Pagar area)? The car is at home (Tuas).

 

Since this usually don't drain, so it is probably a leak also. But have to fill up before it can be driven. That's the problem.

Suggestion is to first fill up to min the tank/reservior. Then observe the rate of the leak and see when it goes. Major leak will be fast and usually can be seen, mostly a tube severe or came off the connectors. Minor will be more difficult to find but simple in repair, probably from the pump, buy this thingy called the "stop leak" and pour it in to stop the leak. The cost to change is usually about S$600 to S$1200, a bottle is about S$15.

 

It seems like a Skoda problem, happened to mine.

Thanks for your kind advice (despite time zone and geo difference!).

 

Wondering where I can buy the power steering fluid itself around town? I checked with Shell near Tuas and they don't have. Was rushing so didn't have chance today to explore via taxi various petrol kiosks if they carry the power steering fluid. That's the problem.

 

Also, re: your advice on the "stop leak" thingie. I assume it is a form of fluid and you pour into the same reservoir of the power steering fluid?

Should be a common thing for steering fluid but they don't come in 3 to 4 litres.

 

As for the Stop Leak, the brand, either Autobacs or at Waterloo street car parts centre. It should be poured together with the steering fluid will be best for effect. However, if you do that after topping up the steering fluid, it takes a little while longer for effect as the fluid is requierd to flow through the system, about a week.

 

Heading home now for a 30 hrs flight.

hi my good brother, have a blessed trip back and rest well after that. :-)

 

Shell didn't have it, but found it in a Caltex kiosk. Seems ok now. We will see tomorrow if there is a leak (hopefully not) or we have to send it over this weekend while we are away.
