Ladykillerz 4th Gear December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 (edited) I would suggest you to continue to drive your auto car until you intend to change your ride.. Thereon, you purchase a manual ride.. Just my opinion but it's up to you.. Edited December 2, 2009 by Ladykillerz

Jimcheam Neutral Newbie December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 (edited) ya better not.. 1st thing u going to sunk alot of money in this auto to manual conversion project 2nd - risk of the car getting damaged after conversion (need to repair spent more $$) 3rd - might not be able to re sell the car. Therefore it is better to buy a factory fitted manual tranny car..unless u have 101% faith in the workshop that is doing the modification and you got alot of yu$$of to give away... Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 Guys, for converting auto to manual what should i get ah? is it possible to buy from scrap yard? Gear box, clutch, the gear stick, speedo meter, ECU? normally how much will i be expecting to pay for those parts and labour? If need to get the manual ECU means my original key will nt work? Did i miss out anything? Bah, piss easy and straightforward job. What you will need: 1) Manual g/box (the shifter, cables etc should be part of this). 2) Manual ECU (easiest way) 3) Pedal set (you won't be able to attach just a clutch pedal. you need to get the entire set). What you may need that won't come with the above: 1) Fittings for clutch cable Prices I can't tell you. I don't know the SG rates for all of this, but your key will work as your immobiliser transponder is not part of the ECU. If you've ever had to shift a gearbox you'll realise how much heavy lifting is needed, but technically, its very easy.
DMC Neutral Newbie December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 you also need to get approval from LTA. Prior to that, you need to have all the documents - official from the company confirm it suit your car model (safety reasons)/info on the gear, installation, etc.. not easy wor.. Tigershark1976 Turbocharged December 4, 2009 Share December 4, 2009 i have seen my mech in malaysia doing it. they told me its a simple job. 1 man can do it within 2 days. but the car was kelisa, using cab so i think ECU not involved.... u may wanna check with LTA for the local regulation b4 doing it. Did i miss out anything? It is possible to get the half cut one to convert, however it's best to check with your mechanic and confirm he is able and confident to do it. Firstly, labour is not cheap. The ECU harness may be slightly different too.

Prior to that, you need to have all the documents - official from the company confirm it suit your car model (safety reasons)/info on the gear, installation, etc.. not easy wor.. Normally pple will just convert and go for their inspection as per normal. LTA side do not really care about auto-manual conversion. However, it will be real hard work if you are thinking of changing your log card data from auto to manual. I would say its near impossible.
