HID lamps too bright: same thing happened to me too, on ECP. Driving in the middle lane, went past a slower car in the right lane (fastest lane). Didnt bother him: clean, normal pass. Then he starts high-beaming me from the back (nobody in front of him). Errr, maybe C&C dont know how "bad" the brightness is at night when they did the pre-delivery inspection. Hopefully we dont get into serious trouble for something we didnt purposely do; car came that way after all, no mods to the lights.

I would like to share my bad experience on last friday while heading changi at PIE. There was this Altis on his high beam and follow me for sometime. Intially I thought he forget to off his high beam but I was wrong. I was so furious and manage to let him overtake and flash my headlight at him. Suddently he purposely jammed his brake and i nearly hit into his car.

Hence then I realised that he must be misunderstand that I on myHID lamp which is so bright on him initially.

So I drive side by side with his car and tell him off that my HID is so bright and I dont have intention to do that. I supposed he had heard what i said and stop following me.

In order to avoid such incident happen again, I nw only on my position light with fog light. However i dont know is correct to do so or against any traffic rule.

Anyone can give your valuable advice.

Cheers

dilemma now

Kia sorento , sportage or tucson or santa fe ?

Their price are really close so you have to ask yourself first.

Do you mind to pay extra road tax and fuel bill? Do you need 7 seats? If yes, Sorento/Santa. If no, Tucson/Sportage.

SantaFe is the most refined car, i can say it is very near to the Lexus RX standard. So i will go for SantaFe if i need a big SUV.

However for Tucson and Sportage, it really depends on which look you prefer. Other than the design parts, all the mechanical parts are identical. But UK media do point out that SPortage is more refined than Tucson. [laugh]

dilemma now

Kia sorento , sportage or tucson or santa fe ?

Just my 2 cents worth:

Lets start with 2 categories; 5 or 7 seater, that will be your logic point to decide first. Once you know how many seats you need then you can use process of elimination;

A. if you choose 5 seater

Sportage or tucson -> go test drive both, they're pretty much on par as it comes from the same organisation anyway, thus they share similar parts and fittings. The choice will boil down to your feel after test driving and their final cost relative to features.

B. if you choose 7 seater

sorento or santa fe -> same as above; go test drive them. Somehow you will know which one after a test drive.

I test drove both, bought a sorento in dec 2009, no regrets. But everyone has their own taste and preference, thus what works for 1 person may not work for the next.

There you go, your evaluation process all laid out in a flow chart :)

happy shopping.

the minimum RON in the vehicle's manual says 95 i think, but maybe other owners are using 92 and can add a comment

btw, saw a white sorento last monday (national day) at east coast food centre carpark, the front right side pretty smashed up, bumper pieces missing, hope the driver is ok

no choice lah Pentux, you exercised due diligence already, anything happens after this it falls on KIA and LTA cos they approved the headlights during inspection time. And when the time comes for Vicom inspection (is it 3 years later?), they cannot fail us during the headlamp test stage, if they do, KIA pays for the re-test.

Thanks for your information but currently when i drive at night, i will only on the small light with fog light. This is to avoid any unnecessary incident.

BTW, anyone have check with KIA workshop for the problem? I wondering they can help on lower down the HID alignment. I intend to make a trip down to check when i am free.

Just a few nights ago I happened to stop at a traffic junction behind a NPP vehicle. The light from my car was bright enough to make the guys inside turn their heads to look behind, but luckily the traffic lights turned green and they moved on to do their work I guess. I was turning at the junction. I think I will speak to the Kia svc people during my next svc check.

In any case for road safety, it is better to turn on headlights, though they may cause some inconvenience to others.

Oh btw, i've been using 92 for my car. No problems so far. I think 91 is the minimum. Read that somewhere in the manual.
