Pentux 1st Gear June 13, 2010 Author Share June 13, 2010 hey pentux, i can confirm that the window locking mechanism is only for the rear door windows. front passenger door windows can operate with "window lock". Sgsorento: that's very good fuel consumption you have there. better than what is projected by C&C - 11.1L/100km. any tips on how you achieved that? Yours is an EX right? i'm struggling to get 9km/L, not successful. thanks for the check sunnygary. actually our car 2.4 is difficult to get good mileage as explain by many pple...we r probably too used to our previous ride which is less than 2.0. i was driving 1.6 previously. anyway KIA gave 9.5l/100km if i am correct. they gave us a piece of paper with our car manual. anyway their reading is for constant highway calculation. tat is y they can get good readings. as for us, singapore so many traffic lights, i drive out of my hse already got traffic light. ↡ Advertisement
Sgsorento-2011 Neutral Newbie June 14, 2010 Share June 14, 2010 thanks for the check sunnygary. actually our car 2.4 is difficult to get good mileage as explain by many pple...we r probably too used to our previous ride which is less than 2.0. i was driving 1.6 previously. anyway KIA gave 9.5l/100km if i am correct. they gave us a piece of paper with our car manual. anyway their reading is for constant highway calculation. tat is y they can get good readings. as for us, singapore so many traffic lights, i drive out of my hse already got traffic light. If I remember correctly, the fuel comsumption label I recieved with the ride indicates 9L/100KM, or 11.1 KM/L as stated on sgcarmart. Thus, my average of 10.3 to 10.9L / 100 KM is still not acheiving the optimum result. Looking at the average fuel consumption panel, I noticed that every accelaration from stationary consumes quite abit of fuel, hence I adopted a new habit, ie to accelarate slower, against my old habit of stepping hard on the gas pedal. In addition, during peak hours driving during weekdays, the highways is always around 90km/hr. Hence, I also make it a point to stay on 2nd lane, and when overtaking is desired, then accelarate gradually. This is a contrast to my past habit of stepping hard on the gas pedal on the highways. Achiever Neutral Newbie June 14, 2010 Share June 14, 2010 Since we are at the topic on FC, can anyone indicate if they have install those Voltage Stabilizer w/ grounding cable? Anyone here got any recommendation? I have some friends who have installed, but none was KIA Sorento. Most were Chevrolet, either Cruze or Captiva. Wonder if they were suitable, since its Korean Car. Anyone here got any recommendation? I have some friends who have installed, but none was KIA Sorento. Most were Chevrolet, either Cruze or Captiva. Wonder if they were suitable, since its Korean Car. i would say voltage stabilizer will not make much of a difference...i even saw petrol stations selling those small bottle of fuel thingy to help FC. say can save dunno how many % per bottle and 1 bottle i tink it was around $2+. worth it if it really saves a certain %. wow! u managed to get 9.9l/100km. not bad...i guess i shld start to change my driving habit too..not to step too hard on accelerator.. i juz noticed something, how come my rear view mirror they have this reflection thingy, default it is switched on, but only left side got light to show it is switched on. right side also got 1 hole. but no light. wonder whether it is faulty. Thanks. Btw, I don't mean to blow my trumpet here regarding the fuel consumption, but to share with the bros here that Sorento fuel efficiency is not that bad. As for the rear wiew mirror, I noticed the same on my ride. So I don't think it is faulty?
Divedarren Neutral Newbie June 15, 2010 Share June 15, 2010 yup the anti-glare mirror has only one light when switched on, can ignore the other side. It was built for left/right hand drive sorentos worldwide i reckon, so they adapt it accordingly to which country the vehicle headed to. Another light switch note: If you turn on the rear aircon switch on your front panel you may not see the pilot light. This is not faulty; the light will not appear if the aircon switch at the back of the vehicle is turned off. You can give it a try; go to the back of the vehicle -> turn off the aircon vent in the 3rd row of seats -> then head back in front and turn on the "Rear Aircon" button -> no light. Now go back to 3rd row seats, turn on aircon vent this time -> head to your dashboard and try the button again: voila! the light appears. This acts as a form of indicator to tell you that the rear aircon is not physically turned on.

SunnyGary Neutral Newbie June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 Hi Pentux and all sorento owners, I faced the same problem as pentux. initially, i get ppl flashing their high beams at me after i overtake them and they get behind me. 2 nights ago, it was worse. driving along ecp service road, i was following behind a taxi and this cab stopped for no reason and switched on his hazard lights, so i overtook on the right and proceeded. However, after i got in front of him, the cab moved off and high beamed me all the way till he turned off the road into some carpark. Other days, driving around in carparks, some drivers of oncoming traffic also used their hand to shield their eyes. Just thinking, any chance to get the HID beams lowered? St220 Neutral Newbie June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 Seems like sorento is not that heavy drinker as i've expected. The body is huge & heavy, tot it will be in the range of 7~8 km/L My 2.5xt forester is struggling with 7km/L, that is bad
Divedarren Neutral Newbie June 28, 2010 Share June 28, 2010 HID lamps too bright: same thing happened to me too, on ECP. Driving in the middle lane, went past a slower car in the right lane (fastest lane). Didnt bother him: clean, normal pass. Then he starts high-beaming me from the back (nobody in front of him). Errr, maybe C&C dont know how "bad" the brightness is at night when they did the pre-delivery inspection. Hopefully we dont get into serious trouble for something we didnt purposely do; car came that way after all, no mods to the lights.
