I not sure about the 2nd part. If u are a PRC, Taiwan is part of China. If u are a Taiwanese, Taiwan is not part of China [laugh]

But when i go Taiwan for ICT. some of the ppl there will rather Taiwan merge back with China leh. Those are the one that being to China, they say, merging back is not that bad, but its their politician that are making a big hoo hah.

Great. Going by your last link, pretty much all major consumer electronics (hardly just Apple) is made there, which would make a boycott interesting. Better start getting your soldering and PCB etching kits out, it's time to kick that home electronics hobby into high gear! [laugh]

Hi all,

Heard that COMEX 2010 is from 11 March to 14 March at Suntec... thinking of getting a notebook...

Any recommendations?

Looking for one that is lightweight with reasonable screen size and my budget is below S$800.

I just ordered a notebook/netbook(more powerful than most notebooks but too small to be a notebook)

Here are the key features which made me ordered it without much decision.

- up to 8.5hrs Batt

- Able to run Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 @ 30fps

- Able to run Left 4 Dead 2 in highest possible settings.

- less than 2kg.

It's the new Alienware M11x from Dell.

Should arrive in a weeks time, so PM me next week if you need feedback.

to TS, if u really wan a notebook which can last and only got less dan $800 budget dan i suggest u better not get any to keep urself troublesome... i worked in shows like tis for 2yrs and definitely i will recommend asus..

my theory is rather spend a few hundreds more to last for a few more yrs than spending less and up lorry few yrs faster (tis way will only make u more troublesome and spend for the 2nd lappy)...

Get a netbook.

I bought my MSI wind u210 @ $800+, it has been a funny netbook. 4 hr battery life but got AMD power.

Previously I was using an Asus A8M. Also AMD powered. Never once failed me even after I dropped it on the floor.... twice. [sly] But I sold it because I found it too big and heavy.

Ever tried Fujitsu?

I think it is a not bad brand considered it's made in Japan.

I bought one myself and has been using it for 3 years and no major problems.

Don't worry about warranty servicing as there is no big queue like Acer and HP, and if you're lucky, you can even ask the person to do servicing at your house.

Wait for iPad, less than $800 too [idea]

what OS is Ipad using? I understand that Iphone and Itouch dont support Flash. IF Ipad using same OS as them, then GG liao.

Alot of website are using Flash player.

that's definitely not below $800??

did you consider the MX15 and 17?

these are premium gaming laptops..

Oppss... Missed out on the budget given.

Yes, I did consider M15, but M17 is too expensive.

The reason why I did not buy the M15 was, 2hrs batt and damn blardy heavy! lol!! Was actually eye-ing the MSI 640GT, less than 2kg, 4hrs batt. Size was a deterent, as I was trying to replace my netbook EeePC 901. Netbooks though small and nice with 7hr batts, cant do much. Lags on facebook apps and MS office. I needed something with more power and longer batt life. Thats why M11x caught my eye, since it had a whopping score on Photoshop CS4 benchmark.
