Introz Clutched March 5, 2010 Author Share March 5, 2010 But then can anyone recommend me any budget good van/minibus of 8 -14seaters
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 not so easy... if the Van/ Minibus is using a diesel engine, Euro 4 diesel engine pay $1.25/cc road tax every half year... if it's older versions, Euro 3 and below, you'll be paying 4-6times the normal engine cc road tax... and if you register it as a car, maximum seating capacity is 9seaters, including driver...not 8-14 people as you wished... and you gotta pay 100% ARF, 20% CD tax...the lots that goes into registering a car... Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 you can register the minibus as private hirer...but you gotta go for the vocational license... then go malaysian customs, tell them you have a registered business in malaysia, fill up a form, get license from them to drive into malaysia... then you can only drive your van/minibus into boleh land... else, better to get a car lah... Introz Clutched March 5, 2010 Author Share March 5, 2010 (edited) ic if no business in boleh land how? tot i just want to bring family of 11 in 1 vehicle neway the pvte hirer plate start with Pa izzit? Edited March 5, 2010 by Introz
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 now Private Bus, Private Hirer and Excursion bus all register under PA/ PC plate... LTA will stick a label at the side of your van, stating whether it's Private Bus, Private Hirer or Excursion bus... if you want to bring 11 of your family members in to malaysia, including yourself, why not rent a malaysian mini-bus instead??? it's considered as a private car there, so you can drive in and out rather easily... or you rent 2 seperate MPV's lah??? Introz Clutched March 5, 2010 Author Share March 5, 2010 ic what the different between Private Bus, Private Hirer or Excursion bus? about the mpv i do always rent 2mpv.. it very tiring bro.. cause only 2 drivers ( spilt to 2 cars = solo driving ) thats why i wanna have 1 vehicle so can rotate drivers. go malaysia at least once a month.. got relatives there ( johor, selangor, penang ) i ask this, cause got few times i saw this PA minibus/van along the road for renting malaysia minibus... i heard, they cannot go in without any pax did try ask but they say must wait at malaysia custom << very troublesome

Cavver 4th Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 TS you can get PI agent to import Petrol version of Hiace or Nissan Urvan and register as 'S' plate , However do take note tat it may time consuming and price may end up higher due to misc. tax\charge etc. Process is roughly like this; 1) Import the vehicle . 2) Clear custom\ LTA 3) Conversion Van to car. (Adding Seats, if the seats not avail from factory)

(Adding Seats, if the seats not avail from factory) Do take note though that petrol version may be a certain "false economy" if doing to save diesel tax. The petrol versions will probably be much higher capacity than their diesel equivalents to make up for the torque (which will be more important anyway), so do your sums carefully. Cavver 4th Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 if not wrong Hiace Petrol come in 2.0L and 2.7L while the diesel is 2.5L and 3.0L.
Introz Clutched March 6, 2010 Author Share March 6, 2010 yeah saw the pic but petrol 2nd more expensive issit because of the PA thing?
Cavver 4th Gear March 6, 2010 Share March 6, 2010 Maybe due to COE or equipment option price (GL , DX or high roof , low roof etc etc). Try compare prices without COE included. Cause some price are for 'CB' plate which dont required a COE.
Berncsp76 6th Gear March 6, 2010 Share March 6, 2010 hmm i remember during my reservist my navy ship engineering officer also drive a Merc type of PA van...I think can seat around 10pax. The seating arrangement abit like those buses, middle lane can walk wan but need to arch back alittle as headroom not that high. Kinda like those vans that we board from hotels in Thailand. Not really sure of the model though. He also mentioned he drives in to Msia often with family as well as for his golf session with golf kakis.
