Jay Chou is an incredible chinese singing phenomenon. Not just the kind of sales record he is setting but also the wide segment of fans his music appeals to, from both genders to also older fans.

I only admire his wealth [laugh]. Some music are nice but don't know what his is singing, so need to look at the lyrics.

I find him incredible for a few reasons combined together:

1)He is able to churn out albums after albums on his own (he produces almost every song in each album) and they usually still sound quite nice with quite a bit of creativity after a long time. For most artiste usually one will only find a good album somewhere in between but the standards usually dropped after sometime and not many pple always produce their own songs and can keep up the standards for long

2)Most artiste even if they are big usually specifically appeal to certain segments of the audience only...for e.g Aaron Kwok is adored a lot more by female fans. JJ Lin's fans are usually young and etc. I always thought many years in the past that Jay appeal only to young female fans but have discovered that he too has a lot of male fans and also there are middle age fans snapping up his albums and attending his concerts much to my surprise

3)Sales. He could achieve pre-orders reaching to thousands for an album which is going to be released but yet to be released. His concert tickets is sold out within days or even within hours when it goes on sale

In the last 2 decade, haven't actually seen anyone coming close to this. God of song Jacky Cheung is probably the closest but he dun normally produce the songs himself except for a few exceptions here and there. And after such a long period of success, Jay is still only about 30yrs old.
